The Bracco Italiano is one of only two native Italian gun dog breeds. The Bracco Italiano is an ancient breed with records about it dating back to the fourth and fifth centuries B.C. They are a strong, deep chested dog with muscular hindquarters. They range in height from 21" to 27" inches and weigh from 55 to 88 pounds. Their short coat is glossy, dense and fine. Their colors can be all white, orange and white, orange roan, chestnut and white or chestnut and roan. They have a docile and gentle temperament but a strong working personality. Training a Bracco Italiano requires patience and a calm-natured trainer. They are intelligent and quick to learn but can be stubborn at times.
