The WYNDHAN-WYNDHAMIAN flat coated retrievers were founded in September of 1953 when Ed Atkins was old enough to qualify for a junior hunting license. This is a serious hobby kennel with more the 17 generations of flatcoat selection (owned and bred). Primary breeding aim is to provide the home kennel with high quality working retrievers for the shooting field that are coincidentally as close to the breed standard as possible. Emphasis is to breed healthy, sound and durable animals that work into their teen years and have calm but happy and eager personalities that train easily and are delightful to live with year round. This requires a great deal of research into available stock worldwide, stringent selection and testing of individuals to be bred from, careful rearing and a very proactive program of socializing puppies and early puppy training to solidify the bonding to humans. The home bred stock is continually supplemented with stock from work proven sources overseas in order to provide as much genetic diversity as possible. Puppies and breeding (stud) services from the WYNDHAM-WYNDHAMIAN long established breeding program are available to approved persons by prior reservation only, but numbers are limited. Reservations are accepted with a none refundable 50% deposit/downpayment only (Balance due when a suitable puppy is available). For more information about these carefully bred, reared and socialized dogs please contact Ed Atkins by telephone or email. Be certain to provide a full name, location and home telephone number with an explanation of what is being sought and the inquirers experience with the breed and dogs in general
The sire of this planned litter will be Ch Wyndhams Kubla Khan, a dog with a very up eager to retrieve nature that has produced focused and determined gamefinders in his earlier litters. "Yankee" is a 15th generation member of the kennels shooting team and an all around quality member of the breed. His sire lived into his teen years as did that dogs parents, grand parents and great grand parents. Yankees" mother will shortly begin her 9th shooting season and his grandam . is one of four 13 year olds in the kennel that completed their 12th shooting season in 2011. .
The female bred to Yankee is the very athletic, Fieldancers Hope Diamond (Canada). This super fast worker was sired by the rugged and free moving Can Ch Wyndhams Long Lake and out of Can Ch Fieldancers Gimbya, a lovely true to type flatcoat carrying a very unique old line working pedigree with line breeding to the Late Jimmy Boyd's (A Head Gamekeeper in Scotland) hard working stock through English, Canadian and USA Ch Parkburn Brandy Boy. The Hope Diamond female, while born in western Canada, never-the-less represents the 17th generation of Wyndham-Wyndhamian ownership ands careful selection.
Puppies from this breeding should be high energy, determined retrievers and superb gamefinders on land and water. They represent many years and dog generations of rigid testing and selection for healthy, durable, long lived and classy working retrievers.
