Stellar Vista Kennel is excited to announce the arrival of our recent litter on 8/7/2025, whelped by Stellar Vista Horizon (call name Gretal) x Stellar Vista Vertical Ascent (call name Tucker). Puppies from this litter are available NOW! ?" Please call or email for more detailed information, as I believe it is necessary for all prospective new owners to learn as much as possible to make the best decision for a pup that is the correct match for their family. I know how exciting it is to add a new member to the family! Stellar Vista Horizon x Stellar Vista Vertical Ascent Stellar Vista Horizon (Gretal) - Gretal is one of my top pick females from our 2016 NAVHDA Breeder's Award litter of our Stellar Vista Country Breeze (Jessie) x Canadian French import Gouda de la Reote. From this litter, I personally kept back 2 females to evaluate for field performance and possible future breeding potential. Out of the 5 exceptional female pups in the litter, Gretal was the one I chose to keep for myself, as she possesses many of the attributes I seek to fix into our line. Gretal is a determined and energetic hunter, showing excellent prey drive, a great nose, and a medium-fast pace that makes her fun to watch in the field and allows her to last all day, no matter the conditions. She is a "zippy" gal in the field, yet still has that desirable laid back personality I want to see in the home (not hyper or rambunctious). She shows great connectivity to the gun with a normal range of 30-50 yards but will adjust her search with hunting conditions and cover...and will hunt across a line of hunters. Gretal has an excellent search and nice point, and by her third season she became my best, most relentless "brush beater" - digging pheasants and rabbits out of some of the most nasty, dense cover like cattails and thick brush. Like our other dogs, Gretal shows lots of eye contact and willingness to please, making her very easy to control in the field. Gretal has an excellent temperament and personality and is very affectionate, loving, and attached to people. Along with plenty of eye contact, she is constantly wagging her tail and licking you (a canine sign of affection and submission) - my wife often comments on how she believes Gretal is the perfect combination of happy-go-lucky, family gun dog! Gretal is a pup from my most consistent litter for coat quality, where all littermates developed an amazing harsh coat of medium to high density. A rarity in most Griffon litters, she and her littermates had developed excellent coats before they were 6 months old - harshness and density that would rival most 4-5 year old Griffons. To this day, I would place the quality of her coat in the top 1% of all the hundreds of Griffons I have ever seen! In person you will see Gretal has a perfect coat - excellent length (2.5-3"), medium density, and harsh, flat-lying hairs that are excellent in the field with superb shedding of seeds and burrs. This type of coat is very durable in many environments and weather conditions (i.e. cold/snow/icy duck hunting situations). Gretal also has perfect size and structure - a medium frame, thick boneset, and proper 10:9 proportions...normally weighing in around 52-53#. When considering Gretal's primary weaknesses, I would have liked to have seen a higher level of natural confidence, greater love for the retrieve, along with increased water love at an early age (again, these are primarily due to lack of exposure and conditioning at an early age). Stellar Vertical Ascent (Tucker) ?" Tucker is my choice male from our 2021 litter between our Maple (Stellar Vista Kindred Spirit) x Aux Lake Bristle. I had used Bristle in 2013 and 2015 to produce two of my most excellent litters and was able to secure the last straw of his semen to produce the last-ever litter of his popular gundog lineage. Pups from Tucker’s birth litter showed excellent form and character and I personally kept back he and his excellent sister to evaluate for possible future breeding potential. Like his mother and so many of our Stellar Vista offspring, Tucker is a quiet, content, and affectionate boy who is also a “teddy bear” of a lover and a very easy keeper. He always loves to be in the same room with his “people” and to go everywhere with you, just to be by your side! Tucker is extremely friendly, wins over hearts instantly, and has excellent structure with perfect proportions. It is interesting to note that when I am out at dog and hunting events, I commonly hear long-time gundog trainers and breeders comment about Tucker being the perfect example of the Wirehaired Griffon breed! Tucker started out strong in the field as a young pup and instantly showed his love for game in the field. He generally covers the ground with a moderate gate but can turn on the speed when tracking a running pheasant. He is always using his nose and is usually undistracted when tending to the search. Tucker does run a bit bigger than my other dogs, ranging out to 100+ yards at times ?" but he does check back in often and is quick to recall because of his strong human connection. Tucker’s perfect structure and high prey drive gives him the stamina to hunt all day in all types of terrain without fail. Although he does generally work for the hunter, he can sometimes be a bit independent when distracted by the scent of game ?" he has high prey drive! Tucker searches the field and points nicely, loves the water and oftentimes swims just for fun…like many of our other dogs. He has also had an excellent natural retrieve from an early age and loves retrieving bumpers, birds, toys, or whatever flies through the air. Tucker’s coat is of medium harshness and density and performs well in the field without needing much maintenance, but it is a bit less harsh than most of our other dogs. It lays relatively flat against the body and has a very nice, longer length, and his face is full of beautiful furnishings. Many of our acquaintances call him a giant teddy bear! Tucker’s coat is very similar to his grand-sire, who was a field and show champion in Canada ?" it looks great, and gives him that desirable, characteristic look that so many of us love! Tucker is absolutely a real gem of a griff…and the only faults I would like to improve is a more harsh coat and a little smaller size. With many similarities and complementary traits between Gretal and Tucker, pups from this litter should express long, dense, harsh, and flat-lying coats with very nice furnishings around the face and muzzle. Color should be excellent, and personalities will be very friendly, very affectionate, confident, and cooperative. I expect this litter to have a little less consistency in structure, but have excellent temperaments and coat type across the litter, in addition to showing high levels of natural hunting ability. As expected from all our litters, these pups will be exceptional family companions, very cooperative and connected, and have the potential to be outstanding performers in the field and water. Details I would be glad to visit with you further by phone about the described pairing, my kennel, or to answer additional questions you may have about what is expected from the litter. If you are interested in a puppy from this litter, RESPOND BY PHONE OR EMAIL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PURCHASE A PUP. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
