Deutsch-Drahthaar breedings by Altmoor for 2024 are our O5, P5, and Q5 litters, leaving between April and the first week of July. These are Altmoor’s 119th , 120th, and 121st VDD German registered litters out of entirely German tested ancestors. Our breedings go back through eight generations of Altmoor DD’s. The high German hunt test scores of our dogs coupled with our personal emphasis on cooperation, biddability, and friendliness all mean that your Altmoor pup will be that once in a lifetime partner you’ve dreamed of. Altmoor is one of the two most experienced active Verein Deutsch-Drahthaar (VDD) kennels in the entire world. We have been raising and breeding Deutsch-Drahthaars since 1983. Husband and wife, we are two of the most senior JGHV judges (VR’s) in the United States and have both served as officers on the Board of VDD Group North America. We’ve hunted everything from woodchucks to grizzlies, from whitetails to moose, from rail and woodcock to sharpies and Huns, and from Woodies and Bufflehead to Snows and Canadas. We’ve hunted, tested, or judged in Germany, four Canadian provinces, and more than twenty states. We’re equally comfortable hunting with bow, crossbow, handgun, shotgun, or rifle, or out of any of our six duck hunting kayaks and canoes, our Melges Marsh Boat, or our four larger motorboats (up to 115 hp). We live within walking distance of the 130,000 acre Wharton State Forest and can take over sixty deer a year in our zone. We experienced several decades of world-class quail and pheasant hunting within a few minutes of our home and now try to console ourselves with nearby woodcock hunts, state gamelands hunts, preserves, and usually once annual out of state bird trips. Of course, the duck hunting is still pretty decent. There’s always a best friend Drahthaar or two by our side or out ahead of us.
