Beamer is out of HR Orion's Bold Huntress (aka Tess) by Whirlin Syd of Marhystin (aka Zeus). Zeus was born and raised in Scotland and is a very handsome fellow. He has a classic Labrador head, a dense coat, a great otter tail, and is a compact solidly built dog that shows lots of drive in the field. His sire is British/IT Field Champion Greenbriar Caffrey of Morayglen. Zeus's hips scored 4/5 using the British method of evaluating hip joint conformation and his eyes were found to be normal when Zeus was about 6 ½ years old in February of 2012. Zeus is also DNA tested clear for prcd-PRA. You may view some pictures of Zeus at www.fiveoaksretreat.com. He's the middle dog in the pictures at the top of the "Breeding" tab and the "Labrador Retriever Sires" tab. He is also pictured in the March/April 2012 issue of Ducks Unlimited Magazine on the lower corner of page 58. For more information about Tess you may see her bio on her webpage at http://www.orionlabradors.com/Huntress.php.
Beamer is a very good looking bitch who is well proportioned, soundly built, and who moves very well. Her PennHip score placed her in the 90th percentile of over 24,000 Labs who have been tested using that method which assures that she should have no issues with bad hips. Beamer has a soft temperament befitting her British background and she shows a lot of potential in the field. She's a dog who wants to please and earn her master's approval which makes her very easy to train and handle. Beamer is cautious at first around strangers, but soon warms up to them once she's had a chance to get to know them. She craves affection and loves to be the center of attention. She has excellent scenting ability and is a natural in the water.
I'm a professional forester and Beamer has accompanied me in the woods and fields for over two years. During that time she's seen a lot of territory with varied cover and terrain. When she's out with me she runs free without a leash or collar. Because of her extensive time afield she has good field sense and is very good at staying with me. In training she's able to mark and remember double and triple retrieves of moderate difficulty and can handle most seasoned level blind retrieves. Beamer has accomplished this without the use of an e-collar. Her hunting experience is limited, but she's had a chance to retrieve freshly shot pheasants and isn't afraid of gunfire. I don't claim her to be a "Finished Retriever"; she's a very well started retriever who needs some additional training and experience in the field to become a solid performer.
Beamer is available to a good home for the price of $3,500. Please let me know if you have any questions about Beamer or if you'd like to schedule an appointment to meet her and see her work. You may contact me by cell phone at: 765-412-2661 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
