Our superb working hunter Macy Mack Aroni had a litter of puppies July 20, 2013! These are the offspring of Macy, one of our professional upland hunting English Setters, and Rocky Road Dextah an excellent professional hunter of another top upland guide. Both parents are proven top upland dogs who work full time each season for professional guides on wild birds, woodcock and ruffed grouse, in the Hancock and Washington Counties and Allagash Watershed areas of Maine.
The sire Rocky Road Dextah has champion field trial bloodlines on his sire's and his dam's side (out of' Long Gone Boston' and 'Hornby Hill Daisy') , and Macy has AKC American and American-Canadian bench champion bloodlines on her sire's side (out of 'Fieldplay's Seti of the Nile'). Paternal and maternal grandmothers are all bloodlines of proven professional guides' upland hunting stock (Reidwood, Windems, DeCoverley, etc.).
Macy is approximately 60 lbs working weight, orange belton coloring/mostly glossy white, has heavy curly feathering and a bouncing prancy gait. Dexter is aqpproximately 55 lbs working weight, tri-color coloring, tight coat with moderate feathering, and a quick, nimble gait and motion. Macy and her littermate Maxine were filmed by a cable outdoor channel show sponsored and hosted by the NWTF last fall and featured in a broadcast episode about upland hunting in the Grand Lake Stream area of Maine
These parent dogs are proven top hunters of professional full time guides and were chosen to be bred for their superb qualities in the following areas:
- hunting ability, excellent noses, desire and drive to hunt, conformation and beautiful appearance, bloodlines, stamina and endurance, intelligence and attitude for training, gentle disposition and tractability, stylish work in the field, bird finding ability and staunchness on point.
- The puppies were born July 20, 2013 and will be ready to leave their mother sometime after approximately September 10, 2013. All the puppies are healthy and robust, feeding and developing well. As of this writing, July 30, their individual colorings are still to be determined. These puppies should go only to stable, loving homes where they will receive the best care and exercise, preferably to active and dedicated upland hunters. Please see our website barharborguide.net for more information on the puppies, photos of Macy and Maxine, and additional info on Bar Harbor Guide Service.
