Bart is a hard, hard charging pointer as his genetics would suggest. His sire is National Champion Westfall's Black Ice and his mom is sired by National Champion Cypress Gunpowder. Bart is one of the most beautiful dogs that a person could get to watch work a field. He covers ground effortlessly and VERY quickly. With as hard of a charge as he has we have had to put a serious handle on him. This is the kind of dog that I love to hunt personally. They keep you on your toes and are on birds fast due to a great nose and ground speed. If you let Bart go, in open country he could really cover some ground. We hunt in situations that require a dog to stay closer though so we have set him up to the collar and all we have to do is knick him and he'll turn and work back across.
As for his formal training, Bart is broke steady to the flush, backs on site, retrieves to hand, is whoa broke, whistle trained (both to come in on one long blast of the collar and to quarter across on 2 short blasts), here broke, heel broke, collar conditioned (both to reinforce commands and to turn on the knick of the collar for silent handling) and loads to the truck/box.
This is a dog that people stop and watch and then ask you where you got your dog. If you want to show off to your buddies or just have a hard core hunting machine, Bart's your man.
