 About Blackwood ChesapeakesBlackwood Chesapeakes- puppies from top hunting, show and field lines. Will be very birdy with a natural desire to hunt. Excellent temperaments, gorgeous coats and correct conformation. Litters will produce rugged hunting partners and wonderful family companions. All breeding stock tested & certified clear hips/elbows/eyes/cardiac & DM. We spend a great deal of time and money invested in genetic health tests to be sure we are producing the healthiest companion possible. Our puppies are raised indoors from birth to 8wks. Depending on weather conditions, all pups go outside to play daily after 5wks of age and also are introduced to water. They are extensively socialized in a variety of situations to be sure they are well rounded and steady minded. Thank you for taking the time to research our breeding program. I was nervous about buying a puppy sight unseen as well as having her shipped by plane. I need not have worried. Summer is everything we had hoped she would be, and her plane trip went smoothly thanks to Erica's experience. It is obvious that Erica had spent a lot of time with Summer as she was already crate trained and started on housebreaking. In all our years of having puppies of a variety of breeds, I do not think we have had a puppy so smart and even tempered. We feel very blessed to have found Erica and to have our Summer. She is already retrieving well and seems to be very smart for her age. Lucy is her name and she is a beautifull chesapeake and has a pretty,wavy coat. They are 14 months old and from different litters but 2 days apart. We had read many negative postings about having two female dogs at the same time. Erica assured us it would not be a problem and she could not have been more dead on. These two Chessies are solid well adjusted family members and retrieving nuts.
