In September of 2014, I got a pup (Gunner)from the Speed X Sage litter. I could not be more pleased with Dave at Power Point Kennel and "Gunner". Dave is a very caring and passionate breeder, and always available to answer any questions. Dave's kennel and training facility is extremely well organized and clean, and the dogs in his charge are well cared for.
Gunner is showing natural hunting abilities as well as being a wonderful addition to the family, and is constantly complimented about what a great looking GSP he is.
For anyone who is serious and passionate about GSP's, I would highly recommend Power Point Kennels.
Thanks again: Mike

Dave,

Thank you for your hard work with my GSP, Max. He was too stubborn for me to handle myself.Your expertise with Max was top notch. Your training transformed him into a very obedient listener and great hunting dog. I would highly recommend you to others.

Thanks again,

Jason H.

I bought my dog from a friend,so after meeting Dave at sport show another friend and I took our pups to Dave. I was very happy with just the results of puppy training. Then both dogs returned the following year, for advanced training and again very happy. And third year a brush up before the season started. My dog is a GSP 3 year old, female, my first GSP and I have had a lot of fun with her hunting woodcock, grouse and pheasant in Indiana and Michagan. I would highly recommend Dave.

Wonderful job training and caring for our GSP!
We brought Ace to Dave Troup as a 6-month-old puppy to spend several weeks with him working on basic obedience and introduction to birds and other trained behaviors. Dave has done a terrific job with him, cultivating his potential and working with him to achieve all of the skills expected in a started bird dog. Dave treats Ace like one of his own, greeting him with a smile and an "old friend" personality that makes him feel right at home. Dave has a sincere passion for what he does, which is evident as soon as you meet him. His facilities are top of the line and are exceptionally well maintained. He is always willing to answer your questions and share advice, which is important to me. I highly recommend Power Point Kennel!

Two years ago I was getting a Gsp pup from Colo. which is driving distance for me. In the end no pup! Frantic, I made a couple calls and started working with Dave at Power Point Kennels. With some calls, e-mail and pic's Dave had answered all my concerns, a little Power Point High Velocity Zeke was in Wyo. We are a hunting family and one measure is bird contacts. The Zeke is a bird finder,he does it with loads of desire and style.I only have one dog so he gets ran into the ground, he stays healthy and is ready to go anytime he is asked and in the house he is a total baby.I feel Dave was easy to work with and breeds a great line. Only wish I lived closer.

We got a pup for my mother. Picked it up in summer. Very impressed with the facilities. VERY clean and VERY spacious. Very professional. Took time with all of us and answered all our questions. All pups and parents looked very well cared for and very well exercised. No signs of stress like chewed cages or fighting dogs. Lots of room for dogs to run. Very friendly host. Let us hold other pups as well. Would highly recommend this breeder!

The kennel is well maintained, and Dave is very helpful. Although we bought our GSP puppy for our young kids, I'm simply amazed at how smart he is. In less than a day, our puppy learned the "sit" command. I've raised English pointers and other dogs, and the sit command usually takes several days for the dog to register what it means. Within 3 days, our 8-week old puppy was able to Sit and Stay on command until I released him to come. I can't say enough how pleased we are with our puppy. He loves playing fetch with the kids, breeze to potty train, and he's very good with them. We are not sure at this point (5 mo old) if we will use him for hunting, but we can see those instincts are in him. He loves pointing out field mice, so we may end up training him since he loves to point and flush a field for critters.

We picked Dave Troups Powerpoint Kennel after researching the area that was within driving distance from Southern Michigan to get a puppy.
Upon Visiting the kennel we were sure to have chosen the right place. The animals had a large outdoor area to roam, the birthing place and stalls for the dogs were very clean and we were introduced to the mother of our future female pointer.
From then on communication and negotiations went flawless until it was time to pick our dog up.
We would highly recommend this kennel.

Searching online for a German Shorthaired Pointer breeder that would provide the best possible fit for our family’s needs quickly proved to be overwhelming and daunting. How can you decipher who truly has the best interest in mind for each puppy, the future owners, and also the breed itself? Well, I found one. Dave Troup, owner of Power Point Kennel, quickly responded to each of my questions. Even after we told him we were ideally months away from a puppy purchase, Dave invited us to visit his kennel to look at a female puppy he thought might be right for us. We agreed. We were immediately impressed with his friendly professionalism and clean facility. Hearing his history with the breed and meeting his personal GSPs further confirmed his respect and love for the breed. Upon meeting the female pup, we instantly knew she was exactly what we desired, and we took her home that day. Ellie’s been a part of our family for nearly a month and has more than met the high expectations we formed after our previous GSP. Ellie has the GSP energy and intelligence we wanted. There was no teaching her to fetch; she retrieved the first tossed ball and continues to do so. After the first two nights, she has greeted us every morning with a clean crate. Ellie is curious and thrives with new experiences, whether it be a hike in the woods or the meeting of a new four-legged friend. She is not skittish around new people and is a sponge for affection. She learns new commands and tricks daily now and is swiftly developing that athletic agility GSP owners expect. Dave continues to answers the questions I have and is anxious for updates on how Ellie is doing. My husband & I couldn’t be happier with our new puppy; we are positive Dave’s expertise & his kennel’s established bloodline has everything to do with Ellie being the perfect fit for our family. My husband & I wholeheartedly recommend Dave Troup for anyone searching for a top quality GSP breeder.

Dear Dave,
I wanted to send a quick note to express my sincere thanks to you and your wife for the wonderful GSP puppy we purchased from your kennel last year (Power Point's My Fair Lady - Lexi)! She has been a great addition to our family and she's an absolute bird finding "machine" in the field. While I've been fortunate to own and train a number of nice pointing dogs over the years, Lexi is by far the best hunting dog I have ever had. She has an incredible nose, displays amazing style that includes efficient ground coverage and a high head and tail, has a natural back, and has been an absolute joy to train! I am sharing these comments as a strong endorsement of both the expertise and outstanding GSP bloodlines that you provide from your kennel. You made the puppy purchasing process great, you provided timely and thorough answers to my questions, and the dog you placed with our family was everything you said she would be (and more)! Thanks again for everything and when it comes time for us to pair Lexi with another canine hunting partner, I can assure you we will be coming back to Power Point Kennels!

Sincerely,
Brett Lewis

Dear Dave,

I am delighted to provide you with a written testimonial as to your dog training program. I found Dave’s Power Point Kennels on the GSP club of Indiana web cite. I recall we talked first about my GSP Dixie in February of this year. As a NAVHDA member before contacting Dave I had an idea about what a good versatile hunting dog should be. I just didn‘t know how to get my new GSP there by myself. Being an experienced gun dog bird hunter doesn’t necessarily translate into being even a novice dog trainer. As I talked with Dave a fellow NAVHDA and NSTRA member I developed an appreciation for “teaching” before “training“. In addition to teaching a “trained retrieve” at Power Point Dave exposes his clients dogs to gunfire, swimming and as many species of birds as the owner/handler wishes. I took Dixie to Dave just 7 weeks before we were registered to take our fist NAVHDA test. The natural ability test evaluates a dogs nose, search, swim, point, track, and their desire to work. Dave prepared both Dixie and I for test in less than 2 months. The results……we scored 110 points of a possible 112 points which is a prize 1. Dave’s training program produces dogs that are remarkable in ability with steadfast reliability, no question about it! Thanks Dave for all your support and patience with Dixie and I. See you around Iowa and South Dakota in the fall. Sincerely,

Eric Pinkie

Dave,

Thanks for doing such a great job training my shorthair Top Gun Ella. Your commitment and professional skills at training really shined in Ella's short hunt test career. Passing 5-7 for senior hunt tests, then going 5-6 on her master hunt tests really exceeded the average pass rate of 30% not to mention the money I saved on further entry costs. I came to you as inexperienced as one could be and any questions I had you were always eager to answer. The last minute NAVHDA natural ability test I threw on you really made me appreciate your commitment to me and Ella. With a couple weeks notice you were able to obtain a prize-1 with 110 pts. I will always steer people looking for a professional trainer with really clean facilities, and a proven track record your way. I would love to talk to anyone thinking about using Power Point Kennels for all their dog training needs.

Thanks for all your hard work,
Eric Skym

My german shorthaired pointer Greta is amazing! Right now at 9 months of age this dog will hunt in tall grass, briers, and cold conditions. She will scent wild pheasants that are covered under brush and snow and point them solidly until I go in for the flush. I've hunted pheasants for a long time and I am truly amazed by what this dog can do at this young age. I thank Dave for his great expertise and organization of a great kennel facility! Great GSP's!

What a phenomenal experience! My first short-hair, Cody, spent his first 7 months with Dave. Not only did Dave establish a strong foundation the field, he also socialized Cody into a great companion. Cody is driven beyond belief, but it was the effort, time, and compassion that Dave put in that made all of the difference. Thanks Dave!

Power Point is one of the rare kennels that gives the dog owner as much or more than they pay for in their training program. Dave and Deb Troup have a kennel full of great German Shorthair Pointers most of which have attained the AKC MASTER HUNT Test Title. Their blood lines of Shorthairs produce hunting dogs with excellent bird drive, hunt intensity, and will range according to cover conditions.
I purchased one of their puppies in June 2010 and at 6 months old this female was pointing and holding game birds. I've had the opportunity this last fall to hunt her in South Dakota on Pheasants, Quail in Oklahoma, and a mix of Quail and Pheasants in Kansas. She gets along well with my other dogs, is exuberant, and an eager loving friend.
