I have a rare form of epilepsy called refractable epilepsy where I'll have seizures for life. My neurologist recommended getting a dog sooner than later as I live alone. I reached out to Mr. Larry, explained my situation, and asked if he had a puppy available. He knew the right puppy for me with the perfect disposition for my epilepsy. I picked the puppy up today, and the puppy has already improved my quality of life. I highly recommended Mr. Larry for any dog needs. Mr. Larry breeds with quality in mind and respects the dogs. He is one of the kindest, caring, and most giving person you'll ever meet. I'm unable to Thank him enough!

Our female Boykin Spaniel is now 6 months old. She is healthy, smart, beautiful, and energetic. She has adapted well to our family and plays with other dogs and children. Larry was easy to work with and his kennels and dogs clean and well maintained. We look forward to many years of enjoyment with our Boykin.

He is a lemon and white male will be 3 mos 12-8.
He is very healthy.full of energy and smart. I am very happy with him and looking forward to having a good hunting buddy in the future. I believe Larry has 2 more of these special pups left. I highly recommend if you want one call Larry soon.

My husband went on a quail hunt with Larry and was quickly impressed with the quality of his GSPs and Brittanys brought to work the birds - so much so that we purchased a female GSP from Larry 6 months later. This pup is smart, smart, smart and bold as well. We got her at 6-7 weeks and by week 8 she already had basic commands like "sit" and "come" down pat. Potty training was a very easy concept for her as well. She could also "kennel", "shake", "speak" and lay "down" by week 10. My vet couldn't believe it. To top it off, my husband was shooting a 20 gauge with her at his feet without any sort of flinch or reaction - also at week 10 - and she was pointing meadowlarks and our free range chickens like she belonged on the cover of Garden and Gun. We will be starting her "real" bird dog training with quail over the next few months and are looking forward to watching her development. She is also a wonderful family companion and does well with our children, other dogs, horses, etc. She's 5 months now and gets better every day. We couldn't be happier.

We looked for about 2 years for a German Shorthaired Pointer and we found Larry and his dogs. We bought a pup off of Larry about 3 months ago and he is super smart, perfect built, and beautiful! Arguably the best dog I ever owned. I highly recommend Old Hickory and Larry has top quality dogs. Thanks again Larry, we love our German Shorthaired (Remington).

Larry Mize has some beautiful dogs. I purchased a German Short haired Pointer pup from him in late May. I have been extremely happy with the pup and he is very easy to train. Mr. Mize was a wonderful breeder to work with! He was always extremely prompt in returning my emails and was great about answering any questions I had. He let me meet my puppy Finn's parents, and although I have only had him 3 days, I can already tell He is a very smart dog! He is already beginning to pick up our housebreaking routine, and is adapting well to his crate training. His coloring and markings are absolutly beautful as well! I traveled 4 hours one way to pick up our GSP puppy and I am so happy I did. Larry was so easy to work with by phone and e-mail to set everything up before making the drive. He was very informative and answered all of my questions before I picked up the puppy and when I arrived to take him home. Our GSP male puppy is so great. VERY healthy, growing fast, and is training very well. We get compliments about how beautiful of a dog he is all the time. We got our new GSP pup "Scout" last week and he is the best puppy ever! Only 6 weeks and had him house trained and knowing his name within the first few days! Extremely smart and sweet! We purchased our first German Shorthaired Pointer from Larry last summer out of the ChubbsxGrace litter. He is the best dog we have ever had the pleasure of owning and has been a part of the family since day one! He was house broken in less than a month and that was with minimal accidents! We have taken him to obedience training and continue to teach him tricks and he is a very quick learner! Larry was very helpful and always went out of his way to answer questions and send pictures when we requested them! I just purchased two female English Pointer pups from Larry Mize on Dec. 17th 2010. They are beautiful lemon and white pointers. They were approximately 11-weeks old when I got them. We got our first English Setter from Larry Mize, on the fine recommendation of David Holt, and were very happy with our pup. At only 11 weeks he is learning all the basic commands and does them with a keen attitude. On our cross country hikes (we are not hunters, but trail ride with horses and need a smart, bold, and energetic dog who is not agressive, but can hold his own)he is well connected with us and excited about his work.

I am an avid Grouse and Quail hunter; hunting several different states and terrains. I had been searching for a particular color and body shape for several months. After describing what I was looking for Larry sent a photo of a pup from his latest liiter matching my description exactly. I have trained several dogs for others and myself over the years and my GSP (Maggie)is by far the easiest dog that I have ever trained. Along with her drive to hunt, love for birds and great personality, she also has a tremendous amount of style!

I am the person who bought a pretty pup from Larry through NWTF donation to the Governors One Shot Turkey Hunt in Pulaski Tn.

I bought my first bird dog from Larry and his friend David Holt(Spin Top Kennels) in October,2006 a GSP named Schmidt. I was looking for someone to train him when I started taking him to the field with some hunting buddies. From the first day all of buddies were envious. This dog absolutly trained himself. I presently own several dogs that came from Old Hickory Kennels, owned by Larry Mize.

I have two Black Magic Snake pointer pups, a setter pup from Ridge Runner Buster, three 1-2 y.o setters, and four GSP females.

I have bred my female setter to Ridge Runner Buster. I have also bred my GSP female June (twice),to Old Hickkory Smoke. I have gotten GREAT pups each time. In fact, I sold 11 pups from the last litter and had calls for at least 2 dozen more pups. Smoke is truly a GREAT producer of FINE birddogs.

I have found Mr. Larry Mize to be as HONEST and STRAIT-FORWARD as any person that I have EVER dealt with. I reccomend anyone using his stud dogs ...or purchasing a pup or trained dog from him.

I have enjoyed doing business with Mr. Mize and will continue to do business with him in the future. I respect a "good" dog man...with GOOD QUALITY BRED DOGS!
