Having owned two Weimaraners before (growing up as a child and again as an
adult), I'm very picky when it comes to finding the right dog.
Being a Chicago TV news reporter and knowing the pitfalls of not finding a
reputable breeder, I did my homework, researching local breeders and talking
to folks to get the "real story. The last thing you want are the health
problems associated with "puppy mill" breeders looking to make a quick buck.
After researching on line and visiting various breeders near the Chicago
area, we found the place we were looking for - Midwest Dreams.
When you meet Rhonda at Midwest Dreams, it's immediately apparent that this
is a woman who loves her beautiful dogs. And she has the ethics and passion
that it takes to breed as fine a Weimaraner as you'll find anywhere.
It took us just over three hours drive-time to reach Mechanicsville, Iowa,
home of Midwest Dreams. But the effort was well worth it.
I'm not a hunter and living in a densely populated suburban Chicago
community, our goal was NOT to find a gundog but to bring home a healthy,
happy, well-mannered Weimeraner pup to fit into our family's busy lifestyle.
Bottom line - we wanted a family dog for my kids to enjoy (ages 11 and 13).
The decision to own a Weimaraner comes with an important time committment -
we explained this to our kids. Everybody has to be ready to pitch in.
And the experience has been more than we could have hoped for. With the
whole family helping out with frequent trips outside to "potty" and
exercise, the crate-trianing has worked remarkably well.
Rhonda even provides you with a complimentary Midwest Dreams "Guide" to help
you understand how to successfully care and train your dog in the early
stages when you bring him home. And she offered us numerous tips that have
served us well.
I knew that with the right training and vigorous exercise that they require
(with lots of love) that this magnificent breed makes the loyalist of
companions.
But it starts with a happy and healthy dog and the right breeder. And I'm
happy to say that Midwest Dreams fits the bill.
In so many ways, our male Weimaraner puppy from Midwest Dreams has exceeded
expectations to quickly become a member of our "pack." And we have Rhonda
and Midwest Dreams to thank.

We board our first 'child', a yellow lab "Honey", with Ron and Rhonda Grimm of Midwest Dream anytime we are going to be out of town and Honey is unable to tag along. She not only has SO MUCH FUN running with the other dogs during playtime, she has fallen in love with the both of them! Ask her if she wants to go to the farm, and she is amped up, ready to go play. We have had issues with Honey's ears in the past, we let the Grimm's know this durning Honey's initial visit. That didn't phase the Grimm's one bit, she was able to romp, play and swim and they were sure to dry out her ears each time, no infections!!! We get plenty of pictures of Honey while we are gone as well. She is a very happy dog while in their care and we could not ask for any better. Honey's health and well being is their top priority, she is treated just like one of the family. So VERY GRATEFUL to have an amazing breeder to board our baby with!!

I have a pup named Teilo who is about 20 months old, he is a great hunter and with my lack of skills in training him has all been natural. He is a big solid pup who points well and has a great nose. I have seen him in the middle of a leap catch a scent turn and lock-up before hitting the ground. I am very happy with my hunting buddy and he walks me eveyday and helps me stay in shape for our next hunting trip!

Midwest Dream(MD) was very professional and thorough when it came to purchasing our Weimaraner . His name is Keyser and his 1.5years old and he is a wonderful dog. He is beautiful, has a great nose, loves to run and is very fast. MD was very selective about who could buy their dogs and wanted to make sure that the dog was going to a good home. Dealing with MD was a great experience and I plan to buy any future dog from them as well

I purchased a Weimaraner puppy from Rhonda Sept. 2007. Rhonda has been there as a breeder every step of the way to assist with any questions, offer suggestions for training, and stands behind her puppies no matter what. Her dogs are genetically strong in intelligence, health, hunt drive, and beauty. Their disposition is friendly and confident. Our Weimaraner passed his AKC Jr. Hunt Test easily at 1 year, and is now steady to wing and shot. His natural honor was easy to train for consistency. We have just started running him for AKC Senior Hunter. I would highly recommend working with Rhonda for your future Weimaraner (or Vizsla) puppy. She is a very conscientious and ethical breeder.

The entire process her of getting to know Rhonda and her family and their dogs was a pleasure! Rhonda was always readily available to answer our questions as we tried to decide which breed to go with...and, even more impressive, she has stayed in touch with us and is truly interested in how our weim is doing. Tank has been a wonderful companion and hunting buddy and we wouldn't trade him for anything...

I purchased a weim from Rhonda 3 years ago. I had never owned a weim before and she was very helpful informing about the breed and whether it would be a good choice for me. It was obvious to me that she cares deeply about them and who her dogs go to.
I was looking for a good family and hunting dog and got exactly that. She has been a great addition to the family and is great with my kids. When it came to hunting she had alot of natural instincts and took very little training!
Been very happy with my experience with Midwest Dreams!

I purchased Lacey 18 months ago from Midwest Dream. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is a great companion dog for our child and is a loyal and playful member now of our family. We have had no health issues at all outside of the normal upkeep that I expected. Her temperament is exactly what I expected after researching various breeds. She is well rounded, friendly with our friends and very social with other dogs. I take her to dog parks almost daily and she plays well with others. Rhonda did provide us with a lot of information regarding the Weimaraner breed and we followed her instructions. She did recommend a puppy type socializing class which I believe helped Lacey tremendously. As a breeder I found them to be honest and caring about their breed. I would purchase from them again and I would recommend them to someone looking for this breed.

I just have to tell you how much I enjoy our Remi – she is so smart and willing to learn – we have completed Obedience 1 and have now joined Loose Leash Walking, then will be moving on to Obedience 2. She is very well behaved – I can’t believe the number of people who thought because she is a Weim that she would just be naughty and not listen ( including our neighbor who fosters dogs, she told us “good luck training her”) If you have the right treat, you have her total attention. We have received many compliments on her appearance – she has recently just started to fill out a bit.

Thanks again for breeding such wonderful pups!
