I picked up Cooper in 2020. I am a reasonably experienced bird hunter and have hunted waterfowl and upland birds in PA, OH, SD, and KS. However, I have never actually owned a bird dog. I had the privilege of hunting and camping with a seasoned WPG from 2018-2019. In 2019 the decision was made the first time I solo ditch-hunted in SD with my friend's Griff. He let me hunt Hobo while he followed behind in the truck and the hook was set deeply!

I found Manitou Wirehaired Pointing Griffons online and contacted Barb to let her know I was interested. Barb really cares about where her pups go and I was put through an interview process. Manitou only sells to hunting owners. I still remember when I got the call that I was on the list. In fact, I was with my hunting buddy and Hobo when she called! The purchase (adoption) process was easy and Barb was a pleasure to deal with throughout the sale.

Coop is an amazing dog! He and I trained up pretty easily with a lot of help from my pal and his Griff. Cooper's hunting instinct and drive are extremely strong! Cooper is at equally at home on the Great Lakes, in the wilds of the Mid-West woods, and on the Great Plains. His health and temperament are excellent as well. Yes, he needs outdoor time, but he's perfectly happy snuggling on the couch as well.

Barb and I have stayed in touch since 2020 and she is always happy to answer questions and offer advice. I have learned a lot from her and the result is an amazing partnership with my pooch!

Since then, my friend's Griff passed away at 14. He was understandably heartbroken. I cried for a few days myself. After much consideration he decided to get another Griff. He chose Manitou for his puppy and this year the new hunting partner came home. He is Cooper's nephew. This will be his first season afield, but is already showing all the right signs!

MWPG is a class act from top to bottom! They care where their pups go and the bloodline is excellent! I cannot recommend them highly enough! If you are looking for a hunting Griff, Manitou has the pooch you want!
