FC AFC Ramblin' Gamblin' Willie (Willie) and RFF Blue Flame (Ellie) are expecting puppies around March 17, 2025. This litter is expected to produce liver and orange based pups in clear and roan patterns. These puppies are bred for health, temperament, natural ability and pedigree. These cornerstone values aren't just marketing points or anecdotal - there is real due diligence and testing around these values. We expect puppies with exceptional genetics for cooperation, trainability, biddability, and style. Both parents have and have produced puppies with an immense amount of natural steadiness, retrieve, and backing (honoring). These are easily trainable dogs that are talented enough for a competition or discerning hunting home but easy enough for a first time gun dog owner or adventure buddy. One of Willie and Ellie's biggest strengths is versatility - they are both incredibly smart and adaptive. They easily adjust to terrain, species, and hunt style. They will open up on horseback and large fields/prairie but shorten to grouse hunt in even the thickest woods. They hunt hard, fast and forward but will not miss a bird. Willie is probably one of the most talented bird finding dogs we have owned. He is incredibly smart in his hunt application and uses the wind and scenting conditions to dictate his speed and pattern. Ellie has a bit more punch in her run but keeps that exceptional bird finding ability. Really the only times these dogs get stubborn is when you as a hunter or handler are asking them to do something in contradiction to their natural ability and great bird dog sense. They are incredibly "honest" dogs who are cooperative, trainable, and retain & apply training exceptionally well. Our program is one based on testing for exclusion versus testing for inclusion of breeding animals. Our "breeding animals" aren't just brood bitches or stud dogs either - they are competition dogs, family companions, and proven hunting dogs. If you don't look for genetic health concerns you often won't find them (until it's too late). We strive to have objective ways to evaluate dogs and ensure we are breeding quality puppies which contribute to the preservation and forward progress for the breed and not just producing puppies. There is an immense amount of effort poured into our program as we aren't puppy sale focused breeders. We are looking at and understanding genetic, epigenetic, and even nutrigenetic components of breeding. We invest heavily in our program. Both parents are health tested to CHIC level (OFA hips, elbows, eye, heart, patella) Ellie is also has a PennHip evaluation (we started doing both OFA and PennHip). They both are Embark DNA tested as well and clear/non-carriers for all genetic conditions tested. Both Ellie & Carson have at least annual preventative bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal which serves not just as early disease detection but also, in the case of Ellie, health going into pregnancy. We have plenty more information available on both parents in the home & field, pedigree, health testing and past produced puppies.
