In 2006 I made the decision to find the perfect GWP puppy. I contact numerous kennels in Michigan. I even talked with the Detroit German Wirehaired Club. After the third person mentioned Mason Creek Kennels and that Janet Nahorn was the guru of German Wirehairs, I knew I had to contact them...I soon learned that Janet Nahorn loved the wirehairs, but was no nonsense when it came to purchasing a puppy. After submitting the needed paperwork and forwarding a deposit it was wait and
see. Approx. 4 months later Janet called and said the female had been bred with her master hunter named "Volt" Janet sent pictures as soon as the puppies were born and advised that she had picked out my male and it had the coloring that I was hoping for. Eight weeks to the day I picked up Doc
and brought him home. He learned quickly not to mess with the cats. He was easily house broken
and quickly became a member of the family..
He went to training at 9 months. The trainer stated, he was the smartest young dog that he had worked with in many years and offered to buy him. Doc was retrieving to hand and steady to shot within his first year. He pointed pheasants in S. Dakota and retrieved ducks in Ark. He loves the water and retrieves ducks in any type of conditions from Lake Michigan to narly swamps.
But most of all Doc is a great friend. He is polite to people and other dogs. He is always ready for a head rub or attaboy. He is eight years old now and still acts like a puppy. He is the smartest hunting dog I have ever owned.. He is simply a great companion. I would suggest before buying a wirehair that you ck. out Mason Creek. When it becomes time to buy another puppy
I will give Janet a call.....Good Hunting all

WE HAVE A 12 YEAR OLD MASON CREEK WEIRHAIR MALE, HAGAR, THAT HAS BEEN THE BEST HUNTER AND FRIEND TO MY HUSBAND THAT ANYONE COULD HAVE. HAGAR HAS PERFECT HIPS, AND BEAUTIFUL CONFORMATION. HE NEVER QUITS, RATES HIMSELF FOR CONDITIONS, AND "DEAD BIRD" RETRIEVES FOR ANY LOST BIRD. HE HAS A GOOFY PERSONALITY AND IS SO SMART IT IS SCAREY SOMETIMES. HE MAKES US LAUGH. EVEN AT 12 HE STILL HUNTS AND PLAYS LIKE A 3 YEAR OLD. HE IS AMAZING!!!!

First hunting dog I ever purchased back in 97. Pointed from the day I received him. Would never break point. Big runner that covered all hillsides and any inaccessible area for me. Out performed any dog we ever hunted with. I didn't know what I had. I may have gotten lucky in getting him. Anyone I ever hunted with told me my dog smokey was the best pointer they had ever hunted over. Passed away 5 years ago. Miss him.
