I can't say enough about Joel of Vom Hoko or the hunting buddy, Gunner, he provioded for me. It was my first Drahth though I have followed them for some time; I have always had German Shorthairs. I am impressed with Joel, his line and Gunner. Gunner hunted, pointed solidly and retreived to hand (holding the retreives until told to release) well before 6 months old and at 1.5 years now works well with Max, my current GSP; they honor each other in the field nicely. Gunner has grown into a regal looking dog with a big barrel chest, powerful hips, a sleek long body perfectly in proportion with the rest of him and a great beard and mustache! We constantly get compliments whereever we go. He loves water and works equally well on land or in the river for waterfowl. As a best friend to my family and I (we have kids, 7 and 11 years old) I can't say enough. The only issue I have with Gunner is feeling bad that I can't often let him on my lap anymore as he is too dang big, though he thinks he is a lap dog; what a nice personality he has.

I live in western Colorado and Joel is in Washington State but what a pleasure it was working with him to get Gunner here to Colorado. Unfortunately we were unable to pick Gunner up personally so we relied upon Joel, his knoweledge of the breed and litter to guide our choices. He did a wonderful job matching the dog to the owner. He also made the whole transaction easy, leaving me feeling confident and trusting him to handle everything in a professional manner. Further, I never really felt like I was engaged in a transaction with Joel, rather he felt like family and treated us the same. Enough said, I would encourage anyone interested in a quality Drahth to contact Joel at Vam Hoko. Not only will you end up with a great dog but a new friend in Joel as well.
