First Russian Spaniel - Texas Russian Spaniel Breeders

The First Russian Spaniel kennel is a very small kennel, where all our animals are our pets first. We are interested in quality rather than quantity of litters. The main goal is to produce healthy Russian Spaniels with sweet temperament, great exterior as well as hunting instincts. All of these characteristics are equally important, and none of them is ignored when breeding is planned. We call ourselves a kennel because that is what everyone is used to calling places where quality puppies are being bred. However, we are a part of the Russian Spaniel Club breeding program, which is very unique. We, the breeders of RSC, are responsible for raising healthy and happy puppies. But it is the joint responsibility of breeders and the Russian Spaniel Club to make sure that selection of pairs for breeding is done properly. This selection is done using all available information on all dogs in North America by taking into consideration health, exterior evaluation results, hunting qualifications, and pedigree lineage, as well as convenience of breeding for the matched pair (due to small population in North America, airline travel for breeding is common). Such centralized breeding program has great benefits for the breed with small numbers by controlling inbreeding, keeping track of health issues and exterior flaws being passed on, etc.
