I bought a pup out of Pinehills Blackhawk bloodlines that was pointing, backing and retrieving at 11 months old just like Garry said his father did. At 11 mo things just came natural to him. We started working him on pheasants at that point and he quickly learned to leave the cold scent for hot scent but did so cautiously without bumping birds. He acted like a 5 year old dog at that point.

So far at 22 months, in his second season, he has been a joy to hunt with. No handling him, just one or two corrections to his distance and he quickly adjust to me. He will range 200-300 yards easily but if you want him hunting closer, he will adjust. He works pheasants cautiously so not to bump them but quick enough so they stop running and hold for me to flush.

I've never had a dog that was more natural than this dog is. Garry says he has bred natural traits into his blood lines and he has.

I will be back for another Pinehill Pointer.
