About Battle Mountain Kennel

This litter was whelped  April 19, 2008.  There are 8 females and 3 males.    The breeding combines two of the most successful NAVHDA bloodlines.  There are numerous NAVHDA Utility dogs, Master Hunters, and field champions in the bloodlines of these puppies.  VC Shooting star's son-of-a-gun and Windrow's Saddle Tramp are two of the top producers of high quality hunt test titled dogs.  Windrow's Saddle Tramp has sired more Prize 1 Utility dogs than any other dog in NAVHDA.  Son-of-a-gun as of 2005 produced 157 Natural Ability dogs (77 Prize 1's).  There are 36 Utility dogs with 22 earning a Prize 1.  He has sired 25 NAVHDA Breeder Award litters and 3 Utility Breeder Award litters.  Son-of-a-gun is the #2 ranked dog of AKC Master Hunters and 7th all-time producer of all hunt test titled dogs.

Sire: Fox Ridge Frieda's Star MH  ,NA prize 1, Utility Prize II (191), OFA excellent

VC Shooting Star's Son of a Gun MH x Bailey's Little Frieda MH, UT Prize 1 (204)

Star's liter received the NAVHDA breeders award for natural ability and the rare utility breeders award.  Both his sire and dam have been on the cover of  NAVHDA magazine.  Star has produced 2 natural ability breeder's award litters.

Dam: Larue's Rim Rock Jazz, OFA good

Shooting Star's Mad Maxwell MH, UT prize 1 x Cecil's Chelsea

Both Shooting Star's Mad Maxwell and Cecil's Chelsea were sired by Windrow's Saddle Tramp

Jazz and Star have wonderful temperaments.  They are friendly dogs, rarely bark, and are good in the house and in the cab of a pick-up.  Jazz is my personal hunting dog.  She has a great nose and pointing instincts.  I have trained and worked with dozens of dogs, but none have been as naturally gifted as she is.  I hunt her on everything from chukars in the rugged, canyons of the Snake River to ducks in the Columbia Basin.

These puppies should be cooperative and have strong pointing instincts. The pups will be excellent family companions that thrive in the home. This will be an AKC & NAVHDA registered litter.

Hunting homes only. Priority given to NAVHDA and AKC testing homes.

Brian and Holly were great to work with and very organized. Most of all, they are knowledgeable and they care a great deal for the dogs. Our dog is a German Shorthaired Pointer and we took him home at 7 weeks.
