About Bentbridge Farm

Our history with German Shorthairs goes back far too long!  As a child I was raised with German Shorthairs.  I can tell you stories of these tremendous "hunting dogs" stealing clothes off the neighbors clotheslines to bring home (and how my mother explained "That" - we'll never know!)  The London Bird Dog Club held their events here at the farm for many years.  Once a year, owners would bring their pointing dogs for a day of competition, there would be a trophy in the end for those dogs that performed the best in the field.  However, that was the 50's, 60's and 70's.  During those years we were fortunate enough to own a high caliber field trial dog and I guess the thought of owning another, just never goes away, so we are back in the field competing and arranging days of fun with hunting dogs here on the Farm.

Our goal is to produce top sport athletes. When this began again, we searched all of the United States to find the best combination of field blood that we could find and are now breeding their offspring. Our pups have achieved FDX titles in the Hunt Tests held in Canada, high acclaim in the world of "Dock Dogs" and our Brooke, thanks to her tremendous owner, was number one as a Puppy in Field Trial Competitions 2012 and number two as a Derby Dog 2013 according to the CKC points and rankings.  We strive to produce loyal dogs that will work for you in any environment whether it be Hunt Tests, Trials, Agility, and in the water. But first and foremost, wonderful companions, pets and gun dogs.

Four years ago we purchased our first GSP Lucy from Trish at Bentbridge Farm. We were looking for a family pet and gentleman's gun dog. And the love affair of the dogs that Trish is breeding set in - GSPs with grace and drive in the hunting field yet affectionate and loving in the house. Two years ago we purchased a second GSP named Gwendolyn. Both dogs compete in Hunt Tests, Trials and Water Retrieving Tests as well as accompany me hunting both Upland Game and Waterfowl. Around the house or in the field they are quick to learn, energetic, have a great nose, and are determined to please. It is our pleasure to recommend Trish's breeding to anyone looking for a great, well rounded companion and hunting buddy.

I have had the pleasure of working a large number of GSPs from various sources. The dogs from Bentbridge Farms, in my opinion, display very strong natural ability traits. Their conformation is also very good minus the volatility I witness in far too many modern GSPs. They are very calm when not working, making them enviable companions in the home supporting what I stated about some of the modern issues like incessant barking, whining, etc.
In summary, their GSPs make my job as a trainer that much easier while restoring my faith in GSPs as they are meant to be - companions in the home first and foremost, as well as delightful athletes in the field!

We purchased our female GSP puppy from Trish at Bentbridge Farm in October of 2012. She is now 7 months old and she is already excelling in becoming a great hunting dog. We are extremely pleased with her and the treatment we received from Trish through the process of purchasing her. We had several e-mail conversations over the course of 3 months before speaking with Trish. Trish truly knows the characteristics to expect from her litters. She has obviously trained puppies from all combinations in her kennels and can lead you to the right dog for you based on what you describe as your needs. When we purchased Lily she told us she would be smart, quick to learn, energetic, have a great nose, and determined. She is all those things and more...we couldn't be more happier.

In October 2012, we purchased a GSP from Trish at Bentbridge Farm. It didn't take long for Lily to win our hearts over and take her place in our family. She has been everything we could have hoped for and more. Although, we got her as a companion for our older dog and our future hunting partner she seems to have intuitively bonded with all members of the family in her own unique way. She certainly has her own personality, although very active and clever in learning new skills, she has her quiet times and loves to sit with us in the evenings watching TV and chewing on a bone. Besides people commenting that Lily’s stature and colouring is the most striking they have ever seen, everyone can't believe how inquisitive yet gentle she is once she warms up to you. We were truly pleased with all the information that Trish provided prior to acquiring Lily and since we have picked her up. Thank you for the responsible way you breed and quick tips and advice you continually supply. We would surely like to visit again so that you can meet Lily. We also would like to have the privilege of owning another GSP from Bentbridge Farm in the future.

This is my second testimonial for Bentbridge Farms because this is our second GSP from Bentbridge Farms. My wife and I purchased a GSP from Trish almost 3 years ago and he has been one of the best dogs we have ever owned. Outstanding as a family pet, superior as a competitor. He has been competing in Dock Dogs with outstanding results. We decided we wanted more of something wonderful so we conatcted Trish about 5 months ago and told her we wanted another. We will be picking up our new pup on Friday!

Thank you Trish for producing outstanding GSP pups.

I have owned GSP's for over 15 years. When I first contacted Trish at Bentbridge Farm, I was looking for a replacement hunting companion. I had a high standard in mind that I was looking to achieve in my next hunting dog. After talking with Trish I decided to make my purchase from her. It has now been over a year since I received Brooke and I could not be happier with her. This GSP is everything and more that I was looking for. These dogs have all the biddability, natural talent and personality a person could ask for. Brooke has been a treat to train with style like no other. If it is a high calibre field trial dog or an uncompromising hunting companion you are looking for, you should not pass up the privilege to own a dog from Bentbridge Farm!

My wife and I became happy GSP owners about 7 years ago, but never learnt as much about GSP's than we did in just a few visit's to Bentbridge Farms to purchase our new puppy. We purchased a pup from Trish at Bentbridge Farms from her litter that was born Nov. 28/09. The pup is now 5 months old and Trish is still available for questions, support and field trial education. Our pup (Briar) has been obedient, well behaved and a fast bird learner as well as a loving pet. If you are looking to purchase a GSP, take the time to research Bentbridge Farms for your GSP purchase. You won't be disappointed.

My experience with German Shorthairs goes back to the glorious Moesgaard bloodline dogs that Trish talked about. In fact I owned some and was a part of that London Bird Dog Club. While mostly interested in hunting, I also was involved in Field Trialing. I have a 6 mounth old female from the same Sire and Dam as this next litter. She is an absolutly marvelous dog. I am hunting her at 6 monthes old and she is an intense hunter, has a great nose and is very easy to handle in the field. she is also a marvelous dog at home. She has a grest temperment, always wants to serve and is a very quick learner. If you are looking for a great German Shorthair, I would recommend that you check out this next litter of pup's and this dedicated Breader.

We talked at length with Trish prior to receiving our puppy Eva in June 2009. Trish is both an excellent breeder and a wonderful person. Her concern for the animal and the family receiving the puppy is the sole concern of Trish. We have been offered mounds of information and learned so much from her. She is still available to us at all times with any queries we have.
We are so happy we found Bentbridge Farms.
