About Achor's Acres Wirehairs
We are a small breeder that breeds for natural hunting instinct with attention to conformation to breed standards. Our dogs are DNA tested for inherited diseases and only clear dogs are bred. Our dogs run in upland field trials and have had significant success with one hall of fame member, 4 grand champions, and several multiple champions. They love the water and are very biddable. Many of our puppies end up as part time hunters and full time pets with a few simply being the family pet. Our males are typically in the 6-65lb range with our females in the 42-50 lb range. DNA testing of the breeding pair indicates all their offspring with sport the traditional furnishing (eyebrows and beard)

Rich Achor is a great breeder of the "Most Versatile Hunting Dog"! I have had one of his pups for eight years, and Birdie is the best Deutsch Drahthaar that I have had. It is important to know that she is my 8th GWP in the past 50 years! Their sires and dams have fantastic pedigrees going back decades.

I would highly recommend the Anchors! Rich and his wife Kathrine (I think) are wonderful people to work with to find the perfect dog for you. Their goal was making you confident that the pup that you got that is perfect for you. It took me three visits to their kennel, to finally decide on Birdie. They welcomed me and took the time to ensure that I was happy with my choice. That is what they did for Birdie and me, and I have never been sorry that I found the Achors!

You won't be sorry for hooking up with the Achors.

Rich Achors breeds a top quality GWP dog. Being a dog owner of various breeds for over 40 years, I have found the GWP to be my favorite breed. I purchased "Henry" to be an exercise companion for my wife and myself, not to hunt with. He has been the easiest and most friendly dog to train with an abundance of energy. Whether we take him on a 10 mile mountain bike ride (he runs along) or jog with him, he never tires or disobeys orders.

He is also great with our 3 boys, even when they are rough housing with him.

I highly recommend Rich's GWP. Awesome dogs.

Rich Achor's dogs are, without a doubt, tremendous! I have had my GWHP, Birdie, for 6 years, and she is fantastic! Her dam and sire pedigrees were champions, and had Grand Champions throughout their lineages. Birdie is my second favorite Wirehair that I have had in the 45 years that I have hunted over them. She is my seventh dog.

My favorite dog came from a renowned breeder/trainer from Germany. He was 9 months old when I bought him. I went there to buy him. He was remarkable!

Besides being a great breeder, Rich and his wife were extremely professional. Even with my experience with the breed, they worked with me, to ensure that I choose the best pup that was in the litter, and suited my needs.

I would highly recommend Achor's Acres Wirehairs, if you want to get a top of the line wirehair.
