About Stella Maris Chesapeakes

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (CBR's) have been in my family since 1980, and I have owned CBR's since 1993.   Our CBR's are a part of our family, living in our homes and experiencing life where ever we go and do.   This February litter will be our first, and will not be repeated, thus making it a very limited edition.   Significant time has been spent to find the right mating that will produce structually & genetically sound CBR's, with good temperments, strong hunting traits and conformation qualities.   This breeding brings together three promenent CBR lines with successful pedigrees, combining champion conformation, field trial/hunt test and actual hunting experience.  Sire & Dam are both OFA/CERF, PRA & DM tested.

We are first time CBR owners and are very pleased! We purchased a 7 week old female we named Molly. She is a delight and smart as can be. Jim and Barbara Gosler are the best. Our puppy was healthy, happy, and well socialized. She had beginning retreiver training at a very young age and it showed. Molly was retreiving for my 11 year old son when she was only 8 1/2 weeks old. She came from a very clean and healthy environment and Jim and Barbara are very knowledgable about the breed. There were many awards to be seen. Jim compiled quite a bit of useful information that he went through with us before we took the puppy home. I was much more comfortable owning such a special breed. When I get another dog, it will definitely be a CBR.

If you are looking for a Chesapeake Bay Retriever; this would be an excellent choice of a breeding! (We actually owned a dog from the Stella Maris line 6 generations back - He was a wonderful gun-dog/waterfowl retriever and companion dog)
These puppies out of Stella Maris and Ty were all exceptional looking with wonderful temperaments. Raised for their first 8 weeks by very diligent breeders. Attention by the breeders to the early development and experiences were very apparent in each of the puppies disposition. The breeders were very informative regarding the pedigrees of the sire and dam. They made very informed, researched decisions regarding the breeding, birthing, after birth care, food selection and initial socialization to a variety of people and situations. We were able to visit all 8 puppies at the age of 4 weeks. They were all exceptional in appearance, very social and affectionate.
The breeders give an adoption presentation and packet of information that has proved very useful.
At 9 weeks old we added one of male puppies to our family already consisting of a Labrador Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, Maine Coon Cat, and free-range chickens. Our puppy has adjusted very well and has been a delight from the first day! He is quickly learning the basic obedience commands: Come, sit, wait, down, leave it and walking on leash. Retrieving is coming naturally and he is eager to please.

It is very hard to put in words how good the breeders are - they care, they care & they care. We just got our puppy last week (had a Chessie for 14 1/2 years before) and he is perfect and as described. Barbara & Jim Gosler are awesome folks and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
