Drove 15 hrs. to North Star Kennels , Phill was very helpful with picking a puppy. made our selection and immediately drove 15 hrs. back home. One of the best things we ever did. CoCo has been a wonderful dog. She is 2 yrs. old and a great hunter. sweet personality. tremendous prey drive, fantastic nose. A joy to watch. I highly recommend Phil and North Star Kennels

Rex is 9 years of age, he is strong and an excellent Griffon, Perfect around children great disposition as well as a shining example of what a gun dog should be, he often puts other dogs to shame in the field. We are honored to be his owner and proves it daily. We could not ask for a better companion.

I have 8 yr old griff from Phil at North Star and he is a great bird dog, but maybe a better pet and companion, I have s hunting friend who calls him Pete the wonder dog! To prove my point I purchased a female from Phil last fall and she is starting out even better, holding points and retrieving to hand at 5 mos the first time on birds, maybe the best thing about these dogs is there calmness. They are not your typical bounce off the walls pointing breed! Thx

I got my WPG from Phil in 2012 as a present to myself. Best present I ever got. He is the BEST hunter and family dog. My husband wanted a different versatile breed but I did my research and knew this was the dog for us. My husband is also convinced, and WPG will the only dogs we will ever get. Phil's dogs are fantastic. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I was not able to train as much as I wanted but the dog's instinct were outstanding and he has been great. We will definitely be going back to North Star when we are ready for another Griff.

I purchased my first gun dog from Phil 2-1/2 years ago. after MUCH research I decided to drive down from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to pick him up. Phil had a clean operation, and was very friendly. "Yukon" was the best dog I have ever had the privilege to own. at 6 months he was already pointing upland birds for me with hardly any training. The natural ability and drive of these dogs is second to none. I have never hunted with a dog that had a better nose, or more drive. I lost my hunting partner this past year in a non-hunting related accident. I will soon hopefully be making a trip down state to find a new best friend.

My wife & I purchased "best dog ever" from Phil seven years ago. We couldn't be happier. Everybody comments on how well she behaves, listens to commands, reacts to hand signals and acts great around other dogs. Excellent with kids of all sizes & outstanding watch dog. Will swim all day if you let her. Loves attention and loves to be loved. Hunting? You betcha! Outstanding natural instincts, an incredible nose and works hard. I have owned several other breeds and some were very good but this dog is best dog ever! After reading some of the comments I have to put my order in now for our next one. Get a griff from Phil!

Six years ago we got our griff from Phil. He was 5 months old and a "started" hunting dog. He had named his Winston and we kept the name. Winston is an awesome family pet as well as a great hunter. He continues to amaze us and anyone else that he hunts with. We get so many compliments on him! Phil is a top notch breeder. He answers any and all questions along the way. We are just thinking about getting a second griff. By the sounds of it, I should get on his list now, as the wait sounds like it can be long. Trust me, it is well worth your wait.

I researched my dog purchase for quite a long time, contacting breeders around the country. I wanted a good companion/family pet but also a good bird dog. I finally decided to purchase a dog from Phil at North Star Kennel. Unfortunately I had to wait for a pup, but it was well worth it. I did not get a GOOD dog, I got a GREAT dog. I just returned from only my third pheasant hunt with my dog, Winston, and he was GREAT! Being a very busy surgeon, I always feel guilty that I have not been able to spend more time training my dog. His breeding instincts and intelligence have been awesome...I can't wait for our next hunt!

Phil talked to me several times and we decided to take a 1.5 yr old started dog he bred whose owner had died. He has always been available for follow-up questions. Greta has been everything we wanted. She is a great hunter and very gentle and sensitive with the kids. She is a very loved member of our family and we will definitely get another Griff from Phil sometime in the future.
