About Quabbin Gate
•Quabbin Gate Farm is all about scale and balance. We try to have plants and animals that complement each other. It is always tempting to try to get bigger but we try to stay small - not as easy as you might think. Please visit our website at www.QuabbinGate.com

•Spinone are amazing dogs - if you like a gentle, cautious but playful companion who loves to hunt and to lie at your side by the fire when the day is done. They are great trackers as well which is what makes them useful on a small farm. They will bark at strangers but they will not bite. They will flush birds but can learn to leave the chickens alone - if you train them that way.

•Tosca , is a beautiful light orange roan with an intense interest in birds. She comes from the lines introduced into North America by the late Guido Malandrucola and from the Del Subasio and Di Val Potenza kennels in Italy. She has Nico Del Benaco way back in her line as do most American Spinone. Her great grandmother, Shenya, was Best of Breed in Westminster in 2005.

•Gunther, is a handsome orange roan boy who also comes from well known American and Italian kennels. I am looking for the very best homes for these puppies and will be getting to know prospective owners before we commit to each other. Dogs must be part of your family, housed in your home, not left alone all day while people work. You must have a fenced yard as well as a commitment to regular exercise and training.

My 9 month old puppy is from Quabbin Gate and we can not even quantify all the compliments we get on his looks and personality. While he adores running through the woods, he is much calmer than the average puppy and absolutely loves all people. He doesn't bark very much, he cuddles us at night and he is incredibly intelligent. His training has gone well, and we really think that he is the perfect dog.

I thank Quabbin Gate for their meticulous breeding attention and very good socialization of our puppy before he came home to us. They do a great job and are super nice! Thank you!

I have had nothing short of wonderful experiences with this breeder. I had used my Spinone stud boy, CH La Neve sul Monte del Subasio, Neve, for the first breeding with her bitch, Gilda. This breeding, as an AI breeding, resulted in three gorgeous Spinone babies, one of which, Nuncia, a beautiful brown roan girl was kept by Ellen, the breeder and the other two went to excellent homes. Ellen was so easy to work with, wanted only the best for the breed, worked diligently for that end and we became good friends as well. I highly recommend Ellen and her kennel, Quabbin Gate.

I cannot express how pleased we are with our experience with Ellen Anderson from Quabbin Gate. We picked up our pup yesterday and he truly is a perfect representation of an Italian Spinone. She was beyond helpful (we have everything we need for our boy and know exactly what to expect!), incredibly generous (went out on her own time and purchased a travel kennel for our boy to travel home in so that he would be used to it before he went into it last night at the airport), and amazingly loving to all of the pups and older dogs. It truly was an amazing experience that I am so happy that I was able to have. She is (tears!) a wonderful woman who I hope to meet again someday.
On a side note, we had a terrible experience with a Spinone breeder here in Florida and Ellen was really great, making me totally feel comfortable with every aspect of traveling all the way to Massachusetts from Florida to get our puppy. Not only would I highly recommend her to anyone wanting a Spinone, I would welcome anyone to email me about the experience.
Bottom line: BEAUTIFUL, well-behaved, perfect puppy buying experience.

After searching for more than a year for a Spinone breeder, we were referred to Ellen at Quabbin Gate Farm by a mutual acquaintance, and were extremely lucky for it.

Living less than thirty minutes away, Ellen welcomed us to visit the puppies as often as we liked. We were able to interact with our female puppy, Olive, on a weekly basis until we brought her home. Having visited so often, we were able to witness the excellent care and nutrition the dogs received. They were all very well socialized and appeared to be very healthy.

Ellen helped us pick out a dog that really matched our interests (companion and hunting, potentially NAVHDA), and it was clear that she did the same for the other puppies. She clearly cares not only for the welfare of her dogs, but also for the future of the breed. She painstakingly chose a stud that complemented Gilda very well, and the resulting puppies were quite lovely - structurally correct and mellow-tempered.

We are fantastically pleased with our puppy. I'd be more than happy to recommend Quabbin Gate Farm dogs to those looking to purchase a Spinone in Massachusetts.
