After doing extensive research on breeds and breeders, my wife and I decided to get a GSP and developed a short list of breeders whose websites/literature impressed me. After speaking with a number of breeders, Donnie stood out in my mind as one who was not only running a top-notch breeding program, but also one who is willing to be a partner in training and raising a wonderful versatile hunt dog.

Although I live 10 hours away, Donnie has been a great resource as I've trained our pup, Greta, out of his March '07 litter between VC Sundance Revelation MH CGC and Callie Vom Friedelsheim NA I UT II.

Although she is my first dog (as an adult), Greta has been a joy to train and has incredible desire for field and water. She is a tireless swimmer and has clearly benefited from great genes and careful breading. Her poise in the field reflects a style not found in many dogs but are common among Friedelsheim's GSPs.

Many thanks to Donnie for producing such a wonderful pup. Greta is a pleasure in the house, out in the field, and swimming through the water!

I purchased my dog Grace from Donnie in the Feb 07. I had recently lost my 11-year-old GSP and was looking for a GSP with a strong drive to hunt, natural ability to retrieve, good noise and family dog. I received that and more!

When I was looking for a GSP I spoke to several kennels all across the US. When I spoke to Donny I was impressed from the start with his knowledge of the breed.

My female Grace has amazed me from the beginning. She pointed pigeons in the back yard at the age of 7 weeks old, with out any commands. She obtained her Junior hunting title at the age of 8 months old and this past weekend finished her natural ability test, where she received a perfect score of 112 out of 112 for a prize 1.

Her drive is extremely strong and is very impressive to watch in the field. She also is excellent with my 21-month-old daughter and my 3-year son.

If you are looking for serious hunting dog call Donny. He is always been very helpful with training or answering any stupid question I have.

If you have any questions email or call. Lou.Casciano@lnf.com or 703 408 9333

Update to my March 20th entry:

Anja ran in a Natural Ability Test this past weekend. She received a Prize I with a score of 110 out of a possible 112. One of her littermates also ran in the same test and received a Prize I as well.

Friedelshiem Kennels is top of the line! I picked my GSP Frieldelsheim's Akers Gambler NA1, JH August of 2005. He hunts and retrieves everything. So far we harvested pheasants, woodcocks, ducks, geese, rabbits. We hunt in PA all over. Mostly we hunt waterfowl on the Susquehanna River. I even take him fishing with me. Akers drive to hunt is incredible. He's also a good house dog. Plus he gets along with people and other dogs. Donnie shared alot of knowledge with me about the dogs, training, hunting.

I don't think I can write enough good things about Friedelsheim Kennels and its owner Donnie Ebersole.

Over the years I have owned a number of pet dogs and even managed to bring a Lab up to useful standard years ago, but I was still very anxious at the thought of attempting to train a German Shorthair Pointer without any previous experience. Speaking to Donnie and to others that have one of Donnie's dogs eased my anxiety and I purchased a female pup from Friedelsheim Kennels last Spring (2007).

My one year old pup, Friedelsheim's Anja Skye Dream, is a fantastic dog: great disposition, quick learner and bird hungry. Anja is the result of the breeding of Donnie?s NAVHDA Versatile Champion Thunder, aka VC Sundance Revelation MH CGC, and Callie vom Friedelsheim NA I UT II.

At only seven months old Anja was pointing pheasants and quail in Kansas as if she was already a champion. She quickly found and retrieved to hand the very first bird she ever had shot over her during this trip. Later in the season Anja returned to Kansas and hunting on her own found numerous birds for my son and me.

I have entered Anja into a Natural Ability Test in April (2008). If she does not receive a NA I prize, the fault will be mine alone as she most definitely has "the right stuff." I also know two of Anja's littermates and they are as good dogs as is Anja.

Because I live in the same general area as Donnie I have gotten to know and hunt with quite a number of other dogs that are products of Friedelsheim Kennels. Every person I have ever met that has a Friedelsheim dog is satisfied. If you wish to speak or e-mail me directly to discuss my experience with Friedelsheim Kennels, please feel free to ask Donnie for my e-mail address or phone number.

My experience started with friedelsheims back in 2004.I was new to bird dogs and looking for a reputable breeder.I live in southwestern Pa and wasn't finding what I was looking for in this area.I turned to the internet and found a lot of breeders online and I called and interviewed a lot of them.Of all that I interviewed I liked Donnies attitude and commitment the best.He is very helpful with questions and goes out of his way to help you in making the right choices when it comes to fitting a dog to your specific needs.I bought my german shorthair from him in 2005(Friedelshiems Poncho Villa)and even though he is my first shorthair I can't imagine a finer dog than he is for our family. He's two years old now and is a fine companion and hunting partner. He loves to hunt, loves the water,he's great with kids and other dogs.He scored a prize 1 in his NA test with 112 pts.He also has great conformation(all who see him comment on how good looking of a dog he is).I think Donnie is running one of the best breeding programs this side of the Mississippi.I am going to purchase my second dog from him in the spring. If your looking for the best in a dual quality dog, look no further.
