Serenity Setters and Stables - Maine Gordon Setter Breeders
About Serenity Setters and Stables
Our kennel started under the prompting of the late George Bagley of Orono Maine. Carrying on in the tradition of his kennel we strive to breed biddable Gordon Setters for the grouse woods. Our dogs are raised in our home and with our young children. We believe in building better grouse dogs by grabbing lines from across the country; refining them using stringent health testing, wild bird contacts, and fundamental hunting assessments with NAVHDA's NA test. Our puppies go through early conditioning and introductions before they are released to go to their new owner. Processed through controlled introductions to water, gun, birds, and horses. The goal for us when you take home your Serenity Setter is that they are ready to hunt and hunt a lot in that first critical season. We want birds shot over your dog that first fall. Some dogs from the litters will be sold with the quiet hopes that their owners will allow us to take them back for spring assessment on the 170 acres we own which is rich with grouse and woodcock. These birds receive pressure and are not keen to the pressure of an overly aggressive dog. They stay well only for the clever and patient bird finder who points staunchly at a safe distance. A dog who breaks in here is a dog we feel will hunt well anywhere. The primary goal of bringing our dogs back will be to establish a feedback loop in our breeding program. Ducks, Pheasant, Grouse, Chukar, Quail, and woodcock. These dogs are for hunters/trialers and their families.
