I purchased a Llewellin Setter pup from Bill Phelps that is now 1 year and 5 months old. I could not be any happier with her as a hunting dog and as a family pet. At not quite five months of age she pointed her first Quail on her first trip to a preserve and this year, her first full season, she has had close to 125 birds shot over her points. She has a very strong desire to hunt and find birds and always hunts close, ranging out to 50 to 75 yards at a max. She is beginning to retrieve, always retrieving but mostly drops the bird about ten yards shy of bringing it all the way to me. She is doing all of this on her own with my verbal urging, no force breaking. As far as a pet she has a very sweet disposition. My son and daughter both love her to death, she swims in our pool with us, just wanting to be around us and the action. Mr. Phelps was great to talk to, has kept in touch with her progress and loves his dogs. He was very honest from the beginning and took great care of her as a pup. She has been completely healthy since we got her. I would recommend him and his dogs to anyone that is interested in a quality hunting partner and family companion. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
