Top Terrace Pudelpointers is a small breeding operation located in the rolling hills of western Iowa close to Harlan, IA. My wife, Pam, daughter, Toshia, granddaughter, Tianna, grandson, Teagon, and I all have an active role in producing puppies that will carry on the legacy of the breed. We aspire to produce puppies that will represent the breed standards, make excellent hunting companions, and be the perfect house dog willing to take a place beside you or crash in front of the fireplace. We will remain small, two breeding females, affording us the time to ensure each pup is properly socialized and has a variety of exposures prior to going to their forever home.
We are extremely selective when choosing dogs to use in our breeding program. Temperament is always one of our most important considerations. We place many of our pups in homes with children of all ages necessitating a temperament tolerant of behaviors we might expect from a child. In addition to temperament, we research pedigrees, test scores, progeny test scores, and evaluate conformation and physical traits to ascertain a dogâs âFITâ for our breeding program. Also, a stud dog must have had a DNA profile and documented genotype for furnishings. All our pups will have furnishings. Some pups may have a tighter coat than others.
Once you purchase a pup from us, you become a member of the Top Terrace family where our support is unconditional. We value our pups beyond their time in our home and make every effort to stay in touch with each of our families. Your success and satisfaction is important to us.
We believe prey drive to be closely associated with pedigree. Our pups will have Ripsnorter in their pedigrees. We believe in this line and are witnessing pups from this line excel in the field and in the water.

When we started looking for a hunting dog, we looked at several breeds and decided on a PudelPointer as both a great hunting dog and a great house pet with an "off switch." The local breeders in CO had long waiting lists and we wanted to pick up our puppy in the fall so we didn't have to do house training in mid winter.
After finding Kent and Pam online, we quickly knew we were dealing with quality breeders that loved their dogs! Kent and Pam had a few facetime calls with us and the pups played in the backyard. We fell in love with MS Yellow (now Heidi) for the grey socks, lots of furnishings and the wire hair coat.
We drove from Denver to Harlan, IA and were greeted by Kent and Pam after excellent directions and good communication. They were perfect hosts and got us started with our puppy. We left the next morning with a mom scented blanket, freshly bathed puppy and lots for helpful hints. The drive back to Denver was painless with amazingly no accidents!
Heidi has proved to be a well tempered, loving house pet that fit into the family immediately and made great friends with Ruby, our 6 yr old doodle. In the field, Heidi is amazing as well. She was holding her points at 6 months, retrieving (occasionally) and getting along with the other dogs in the field. She hunts all day and still looks for birds while we are gathered at the truck.
I look forward to another season in the field and would highly recommend Top Terrace for their love of the dogs, breeding for strong prey drive and being world class people to work with.
Best Regards,
TAF

I feel truly blessed to have become part of the Top Terrace Pudelpointer family! After speaking with several breeders, I can honestly say my experience with Kent and Pam was top notch. The process leading up to finding the perfect pup had been a nightmare until I came across their kennel. I reached out online about an upcoming litter, and within 10 minutes, Kent called me directly. From the start, it was clear they weren’t just looking to place dogs—they were genuinely invested in ensuring their pups went to great homes.
Even when I had a medical issue and surgery that made me question whether it was the right time for a puppy, Kent and Pam stayed in touch, providing support and reassurance throughout the process. We were able to bring our boy home at the end of September, and he has already had numerous hunts with grouse shot over him. He is by far the most well-rounded, down-to-earth dog I’ve ever had the privilege of owning.
Here are a few standout things they did that made all the difference:
- Puppy preparation : They knew we had young children, so they worked with the puppies on essential behaviors like biting. Our pup has never once mouthed or nipped us—something I attribute to the training they put in place from the start.
- Socialization & training: The puppies received early training on pressure on/off and were well-socialized, ensuring a smoother transition for us.
- Transition assistance: Our pup was separated from his litter mates before coming to us to help with crate training, making the adjustment process much easier.
- Starter pack: They sent a "new puppy" starter kit with toys, food, paperwork, and a gundog guide, making our transition and training experience so much smoother.
- Ongoing support: Kent and Pam have continued to stay in close contact, providing support and guidance every step of the way.
Their passion for quality breeding is evident in everything they do. Choosing Kent and Pam for your Pudelpointer, whether it’s your first or next, is a decision you won’t regret. They are exceptional breeders, and their dedication to their dogs is second to none.
