Mountain Valley Spinone - Idaho Spinone Italiano Breeders
About Mountain Valley Spinone
Spinone are a great family and hunting dog.The best of both worlds. Mountain Valley Spinone puppies come from Quality hunting lines. My breeding program is not a hobby but a full time commitment. It is a dedicated full time way of life. We are committed to breeding happy healthy puppies. Mountain Valley is located in Driggs Idaho, just 30 miles west of Jackson Wyoming. Please feel free to come by and check out our kennel and look at the dogs anytime. MVS sires and dams and any that MVS recommends, are health screened for sound genetic quality. Our Goals are: Health, Good Temperament, Structure, and are Field Savvy for a well rounded dog. MVS hunt their Spinone but Spinone also make great family, obedience, tracking, agility, service, therapy, help, and much much more. The Spinone are a wonderful combination, the best of both worlds. In its early history, the Italian Spinone was generally a healthy breed. However, indiscriminate breeding practices due to ignorance, lack of concern, and monetary gain changed the landscape dramatically. Our beloved breed has some issues that need to be addressed. These are hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and thyroid conditions. Testing for eyes (CERF exam) and C.A DNA testing is also appreciated. Any dog that has had a history of unexplained seizures or any other obvious hereditary medical conditions must never be bred. Remember that these are serious health conditions that will severely impact the quality and length of life of any affected puppies. Health screening of breeding stock cannot guarantee that your puppy will be excluded from any of these problems but the risk factor is mitigated substantially. It is important to insist on a minimum set of standards when acquiring a Spinone puppy. A good breeder should be able to demonstrate testing of these issues by either providing a link to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals records, CHIC records through AKC or they should be able to supply copies of the certified paperwork they received after the test screening was completed. If they do not, or are not willing to provide this information, search out a breeder that is willing to disclose this information. Your breeder should offer a minimum of 1-year written guarantee against genetic health conditions. I will help you choose the pups to fit your personality and lifestyle. Spinone pups will have a middle of the road temperament to fit well into any family. The Spinone puppy must be well socialized to adjust with new people, new situations, and travel to new places. The pup will have a sound conformation as well and some great hunting ability. If you are interested in talking to me please email or call me at 307-413-2509. Thank You for your interest in Mountain Valley Spinone. Sure hope this helps you. No matter where you purchase a pup, or if you have any further questions please feel free to contact me. I'm an outfitter in Ft Smith Mt. My dog Norton is 5 years old. He is on the river with me every day. EVERYBODY loves this dog. He is gentle, quite, affectionate, and always happy. I hunt upland birds with him all fall and winter. This is the best breed bird dog I've ever had the pleasure of walking behind. He has a great nose, boundless energy and the most amazing instinctive ability I've ever seen. We hunt a lot of cattail swamps on the river bottem. I can send him into the cattails and he won't come out until he is called or runs out of ground to work. I.m not a dog trainer and didn't need to be with him. He was ready to go right out of the "box". A few simple commands and his genetics are all that was needed. Always remember "life's too short to hunt with an ugly dog".
