Laurelwood Chesapeakes - Georgia Chesapeake Bay Retriever Breeders

I cannot say enough about Laurea of Laurelwood Chesapeakes. Laurea does all health testing, breeds within the breed standard, breeds for temperament, drive, and trainability. She travels across the states to visit several sires before breeding. She's taken 8+ weeks off work at a time to raise puppies. Pups are exposed to guns, birds, and water. She encourages visiting while the puppies are small. She also offers great support after the puppy leaves and is easy to contact with questions or for advice.

I bought a male puppy from her 5/25/2017 litter. I asked her so many questions. I visited for three days at five weeks old and was amazed at everything she was doing. When I brought my pup home he already sat on command and was mostly potty trained. He has great drive, temperament, and trains well. He is 14 months old now and has his Junior Hunter, Working Dog, and Dock Senior titles. He is a great pet, is good with other animals and people, is very versatile, and loves to be in the field, or on the dock. He is such a great dog! I wholeheartedly recommend her.

Amazing Breeder who truly has the betterment of the breed at heart. We have 2 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers from her, Briggs “U-SHR CH Laurelwood’s Point Taken JH WD” who is 2 and Piper “Laurelwood’s Operating Under the Radar WD” who is 1. She has been a great mentor and friend to my wife and I. You can be certain you are getting a high quality working dog who will also have a great temperament around the house.

We brought home an 8 week old Laurelwood pup one year ago this month (July 2018) and she continues to be our delight. Our girl has tremendous drive and a happy temperament. She approaches life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She was exposed to the water prior to us picking her up and her love of water retrieves is endless. She is a smart and tenacious puppy who is eager to please. She was the smallest pup of her litter but no one told her that. She carries herself with a bounce in her step greeting every day and every experience with a can do spirit. Laurea Griggs (the breeder) communicated every update with the pregnancy and the early life of the pups, including a puppy cam in the nursery. We were welcomed to her home to visit with the puppies and she listened to us regarding what we were looking for. Laurea takes great care to expose the puppies to a variety of sounds and experiences so that they have a head start when you pick them up. She even has them using a litter box in the puppy pen which I believe was very helpful in expediting the potty training process. Laurea is also very helpful as an ongoing resource for anything that comes up. She welcomes staying in touch and I am very grateful for her support. I highly recommend this breeder for a healthy happy sound Chesapeake Bay Retriever pup. This breeder knows her stuff and is dedicated to the future of the CBR.
