About Shiloh Brittanys

Over the past 24 years Shiloh Brittanys has selectively bred one or two litters per year choosing quality over quantity. My reward in only breeding the highest quality of animals is that I am fortunate enough to have bred or owned 6 Dual Champions, 13 Field Champions, 5 Amateur Field Champions, one Master Hunter, one Senior Hunter, 8 Junior Hunters and 23 Show Champions with many more hunting companions and family pets.

I have been a member of the American Brittany Club for over 20 years and strictly adhere to their breeding "Code of Ethics." All breeding stock is certified to be free of hip dysplasia by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.

Puppies are hand raised in the home and well socialized. They are temperament tested at 7 weeks of age so that the correct puppy is placed with their new family. They are also independently evaluated for their conformation to the American Brittany Club Standard. They are guaranteed to be free of genetic defects. They are veternarian checked, wormed, first shot and micro chipped prior to going to their new homes.

I breed for soundness, temperments and birddability. All have tested and true to their breeding and have strong pointing instinct with head high, tail high and a natural desire to retrieve.

Honesty, integrity and ethics should be the hallmark of everyone who undertakes a breeding. Pennie Peterson meets and exceeds those expectations. Each breeding is accomplished with study and care for the betterment of the breed, attention to conformation, purpose, soundness and stability. She continues to demonstrate, and has certainly proven by her many accomplishments, a deep respect for the history of the breed while she continues to keep the goal of the dual concept in her vision for the future.

We have known Pennie since 2001 - the dogs who share her life are treasured and puppies are impeccably raised and well-socialized to help them make a seamless transition to selected new homes.

Pennie is one of the most honest Brittany breeders I have ever know in the 40 years I have been breeding Brittanys. I would have one of her dogs any day of the week and would trust her with one of mine without any worries. She is a most honorable woman.

Dogs did awesome today. Jenny hauled out of the truck and dissappeared. Took us five more minutes to get guns and vests out, etc. She was gone, so we started without her. Jack slammed to a point on a reed patch 100 yds from the truck and when we got to him, he was actually backing Jenny's point. She was locked up just inside the reeds. Must have been there the whole time. Six pheasants took off at once-- rare for that many at once! 4 cocks and 2 hens. I got two and finished with one more over Jack shortly after that.

Max is as great a dog as an owner could have. He had a great first hunting season. I may have him trained to wing and shot but have not decided yet. It is an ego thing but we could win some ribbons with him and maybe more. Carl says he as good a gun dog as any of his GSPs and maybe better, he has done a good job with him. I would like to get together and work him in front of you so you can see what he can do. Hope to see you soon.

Pennie Peterson is one of the most knowledgeable, ethical, and dedicated breeders of dual quality Brittanys you could ever hope to meet. She has an amazing knack for breeding generation after generation of AKC field and show winners, but also places many of her puppies in “pet” homes, which some breeders refuse to even consider. She really enjoys mentoring people who are new to the breed, and has never insisted on co-ownership agreements.

She is extremely knowledgeable about health issues in the breed, and is someone other breeders trust for assistance with their breeding decisions. She is also really good at temperament testing and conformation evaluation for 7-8 week old puppies, and does this not just on her own puppies, but for other breeders as well.

If you are one of the lucky ones to get a puppy from her, it will probably be the best Brittany you've ever owned. Along with a great dog, you'll get a lifetime of support that few breeders can match. I know – she bred our once-in-a-lifetime dog, FC/AFC Shiloh’s Blazin Tri’d N Tru in 1998, and still grooms his neck, ears, and tail when she visits (and he loves the attention, of course).
