Great and Incredible NEWS from James in Australia

Cady Falls Angel Of Faith

On the brighter side of all things, and as a tribute to your excellent breeding, AOF has conquered yet another certificate: MTVH (Multiple Task Versatile Hunter). This is not a formal title, like the ones conforming her TC, but a certificate of versatility which is granted to very few dogs (almost all dogs trying for the MTVH are titled dogs), since it requires a minimum score of 75 points in any of the 4 disciplines and a minimum total of 315 (meaning really that the dog can only score 75 in a single discipline and needs at least 80 in each of the other 3). AOF aced the trials, and scored 386 / 400 (96.5%)!

Will send you a scanning of the certificate when I get my scanner back from the repair shop.

The disciplines are pointing (at least 3 different kinds of game birds!); retrieving (land and water, and feather and fur, also 3 different game animals per class); trailing and holding (trailing is the same as anywhere else in the world, but in OZ “holding” means cornering a game animal (fur only), either wounded or in pursuit, until the hunter can shoot it.

AOF is by no means a large female (she is very much within standard, beautiful as few dogs ever are, but on the smaller side nevertheless), and this only heightens how amazing it is seeing her going after a wild boar with such courage and at the same time displaying a remarkable level of prudence and mischievousness that can only come from selective breeding and excellent bloodlines. She runs so fast that when grouped with other (always larger that her) dogs, she is always the first one to get to where the game animal is. That said, I’m convinced that she prefers rabbits and hares, and then deer, over any other furred game animal. Boars are not in AOF’s priorities and honestly, given the perils for her, neither on mine.

As I always tell you, I can break my back trying to train a dog, but if it does not have what it takes, all this efforts will always amount to little or nothing. In the case of your dogs (and I can say this with some authority after having had the privilege of training 3 of them from zero to DC and TCs, and dozens of others to compare with), I find they are the easiest ones to train, a pleasure to work with and the product of a blessed hand (yours, of course) at breeding.
