She has been hunting geese and ducks for 5 seasons and easily picks up multiple marks, retrieves to hand, and is steady at the line. She retrieves blinds with hand singles and whistle commands. Honey earned a Junior Hunter Title in 2009. She continues to train regularly for hunting but has retired from hunt tests. Honey's hips are rated OFA Good, elbows and eyes are Normal and is CNM and EIC clear. Based on parentage, all puppies in this litter will be both CNM and EIC Clear.
This is a repeat breeding. The first litter was born in March 2010 and a second litter followed in May 2011. A total of 20 puppies were raised between the 2 litters. Many of these puppies went to hunting homes and a few went to competition homes. To date, 4 of these puppies have entered AKC Hunt Tests. All four have received JR and/or SR passes and 2 have received JR Hunter Titles. One additional dog was trained in to find and retrieve shed antlers. He won the 2011 North American Shed Hunting Dog Association (N.A.S.H.D.A.) Amateur and the Junior Championship. More information about these dogs can be found on our website.
Pups from this litter should be capable of performing well in hunt tests and field trials. They should also make outstanding hunting dogs and companions around the house. While both parents are quiet in the house and good with children, these pups should be highly athletic and are unlikely to be suitable for families that will not provide them with basic training and lots of exercise. Pups are covered by a 26 month guarantee against genetic problems of hips, elbows, and eyes as well as a general guarantee that they are in good health at the time of delivery. Pups will receive early neurological stimulation. They will have dew claws removed, be vet examined and have initial shots and preventative deworming medication. They will be well socialized with children, adults, and other animals. They will be exposed to birds, water (weather permitting), gun fire, crates, travel in vehicles, and leashes and collars. Pups will be ready to go to their new homes in early March.
