About Longrifle Sporting DogsLongrifle Sporting Dogs is a small family kennel raising Wirehaired Pointing Griffons for the field, show ring, and the couch! Our dogs are first and foremost family pets. We show in the conformation ring, field test, and hunt with our dogs before considering a breeding. Our Griffons are American Kennel Club (AKC) and North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) registered and tested. We also use OFA or PennHIP certifications. Being from South Dakota we are avid upland game and waterfowl hunters. We enjoy hunting with talented dogs that we don't have to spend all day chasing after! Wirehaired Pointing Griffons are a versatile hunting breed and are for the "foot" hunter. The wire coat is also very helpful in the "burs and stickers" that South Dakota and Wyoming have to offer. The temperament of our dogs is also very important. We have threes children RuthAnn 11, Gavin 7, and Amelia 1. Our dogs must be patient and kind, while also being bold and loyal in the field.
