About The Fast Bear Labrador Retrievers
The Fast Bear Labrador Retrievers is named for our original breeding female Ursa Velox, which in Latin means the "Fast Bear" and that's exactly what Ursa is. A granddaughter of Storm's Riptide Star the first Chocolate Labrador to earn the National Field Championship title (1996) -- Ursa was an excellent, versatile Chocolate Lab. At 54 pounds she was extremely athletic, strong, fast and was very easy to train. She picked up everything quite quickly and I personally trained her for retrieves at home in a matter of days. I never ran Ursa in hunt tests - I just hunted her. Her natural ability, along with her pedigree via Storm's Riptide Star as a grandfather; Dreamcatcher's Nothin To it (MH) as a father (from Storm's RS) and strong Candlewoods influence through her mother Soggy Acres Dixie Bell speaks for itself. While a very sweet dog that lived with us inside -- in the field she had almost limitless stamina, had no quit, and could go all day. Just like her daughter Ula, and granddaughter Bruna. I'm from Pittsburgh and spend significant time in Pittsburgh/Western Pa - and breed my dogs first and foremost to hunt.
