Her name is Ginger, and she is a golden retriever/english pointer mix from On-Point Kennels. From the day I apllied for a puppy, I was waiting in anticipation. I knew I was signing up for a long wait-I placed a deposit in January for a pup that wouldn't come home until October. The best part was how pleasant it was to deal with Christine. After the pups had been around a few weeks, Christine had sent me a few pics. I had initially asked for the lightest blonde for color. In the weeks bewtween their birth and the time I was to take her, I realized that Christine would know best which personality was most friendly, alert and playful. When I asked her which pup she would keep if she could, she tells me that the best natured pup in her opinion was also the darkest blonde of the bunch. Of course I had already requested the lightest colored. She could have made things so mucher simpler for herself by adhering to my color choice and just telling me what I wanted to hear. She didn't-and that one act proved to me I had made the right choice in choosing a pup from her kennel. 3 years later, my dog Ginger is one of the most friendly, well-behaved, and highly intelligent dog I've had the opportunity to raise and teach. If I was so inclined, I could have easily made her a wonderful hunting dog. As it is, I play very complicated search and find games to keep her mind constantly working and learning. My husband has suggested that we try this duck season because of her drive to retrieve. These are quality dogs, and I will look to Christine first when looking for another dog. |
