Head Start Program

We offer retriever training to all gundog retrievers. We start with a head start program designed for the pup to be introduced to a hunting environment, people, other dogs, and of course gun fire. The head start program will also bring out the retriever instincts that pup already has. Pup will be introduced to duck wings and birds also at this stage, as well as water.

Basic Retriever Program

The basic program introduces your pup to single land and single water marks to increase confidence. We also will start inforcing obedience here, but not too much. We want the pup here to love retrieveing. Force Fetching, colar conditioning and Force to Pile work is started here also. Sit to whistle and basic obedience will be well started in the basic program.

Advanced Retriever Program

Here is where we start double land and double water marks. Obedience is inforced heavily here. Force To Pile, swim by's and 8 handed casting is ran alot to get ready to run blinds. Blinds are when your dog has not see a bird fall and he needs your direction to get him on the bird whether on land or in water, this is called handling. Handling is taught to the extreme in the advanced program.

Depending on the dogs maturity and level of acceptance, these 3 programs will make a gundog for you to hunt with and run in hunt test's. This is only an example of the training in our gundog program, several other training tools are used to get your dog to be the best gundog possible.
