Schuger Run Kennels - Nebraska German Shorthaired Pointer Breeders

Schuger Run Kennels is located in Sidney, NE. It is operated by brothers Mike and Dan Schumacher. We're a small operation offering only three openings each summer for pointer training. This allows for more attention given to each dog in and out of the field. We use a variety of locations for training: crop fields, CRP, ponds, sloughs, creeks, and whatever else we can find. We believe each dog needs a variety of hunting environments to prepare them for all situations. We also try to include each dog in community functions to let them associate with many people and dogs.

At Schuger Run your pointer will be assessed to see what level of training they are already at and what is next. Our training program is designed to develop and perfect these listed skills:

• hold point (to owners preference: flush, shot, fall)
• kennel (a must)
• woah
• retreive to hand
• heal
• force broke
• backing
• whistle commands (if requested)
