Here at Modaka kennels we have been running the Cover dog circuit for nearly the last 20 years. The cover dog field trials are a all wild bird field trial Grouse/Woodcock event under the American Field registry which is the oldest field trial registry in North America. We have primarily run English pointers and English Setters in these events creating several field champions as well as several more runner-up field champions. One of our field champions as well as a field champion made by someone else have came from our breeding program. As well as running the cover dog circuit we have been training high quality gundogs for the public. Depending on the weather we train primarily in Michigan but as the weather turns colder we go south to more temperate states such as TN, GA, KS, TX, and SC in order to keep up our rigorous training schedule.

In the past couple of years I have developed a passion /lust for duck and goose hunting which has lead me into learning the proper system to train retrieving and versatile dogs. Just last year on our first dog we earned a prize one Utility pass in NAVHDA which qualified us for the Invitational this coming fall. Soon we will be competing in AKC retriever Hunt Tests with our own labs and client dogs. We also offer guided grouse and waterfowl hunts throughout the fall in the upper Midwest.
