About Shade Tree Kennels
Our Kennel is growing and changing at an consistent rate. Our family got our first Cur pup 17 years ago and have never looked back. A couple of years ago we bought a foundation male for our kennel, Captains Courageous, from Kevin Knierim of K Bar K Kennels (Captain was bred by Dwight Scott, from OH) We lost Captain suddenly a in 2016 but thankfully we kept a son our of him named Captain's Edge. Edge is doing a great job of filling his father's shoes. The tremendous versatility of the Black Mouth Cur is what attracted us in the first place and what has kept them at the top of our list. Our goal is to produce a dog that has great hunting potential but can still be that loyal family pet, protecting your property and herding the kids or grandkids if needed. The best news is that we have puppies!!! A beautiful, very uniform litter was born May, 2018!! There are deposits on the litter but still have pups available. When you are ready, A $50 deposit will hold your pup for you. We can send photos and/or videos upon request as well as keeping things updated on our website. Feel free to call, text or email. Making new friends is one of the extra blessings and we look forward to meeting you!! Joann, 931-993-7371

Hi...I want to add a few words for our experience with Joann at Shade Tree Kennels. We have had our own Black Mouth Curs, but decided to breed and sell them. So, I started searching for puppies from other breeders and found Shade Tree Kennels. They happened to have a litter that would soon be ready to go. We met with her and ended up buying not only one pup but 2. The second one was from another litter. They are 2 months apart in age. So far they are very likeable and easy to work with. It has been a pleasure to meet them and their service was outstanding! Beautiful little puppies and very much loved.

I can’t brag enough on our new pup! He’s so smart and doing very well in his training. The Burnside family was so friendly and helpful in making our choice. We love our black mouth mountain cur!

I cannot put into words how positive of an experience we had with the Shade tree kennel. From the very first contact with Joane, I knew in my heart this is where my family would be getting our next addition. By far the best kennel experience one could ask for & I would recommend anyone looking for a cur head to Shade Tree Kennel.

I received my puppy Copper from shade tree and he has been a blessing. He's been easy to train and is very smart. He's my first dog and by 4months he was already trailing racoon hides and "treeing" the hide by himself. He learned most of his basic comands within a month. I can't say how great these dogs are. He never hurts our house cats but is relentless on racoon and squirrel.Shade tree kennel is a wonderful they're kind and all around great and godly people I can't thank them enough

Well, what can I say? I could not be happier with our experience with Joann and Shade Tree Kennels. The entire process from first inqury to pick up was first rate. Our little guy, Niko, is just an outstanding dog in every aspect. He is a little over 12 weeks now and weights 30 pounds. His coat is just beautiful. His temperment and learning ability is also everthing you would want. Thanks again Joann for a great experience. I would highly recommend Shade Tree Kennels if you are interested in a Black Mouth Cur.

All the Best,

I started getting to know the Burnside family about 5 years ago. When Mark Burnside contacted me about getting a puppy or even breeding their Annie female. As we stayed in contact trying to work out arrangements, I learned of Mark's battle with cancer. along with Mark's mighty faith in God. Sadly Mark lost his earthly battle with cancer, but won the victory of Heaven.
In 2012 Joann contacted me about some of the things God was doing in her life. And one of those was continuing Mark's love and passion of great hunting dogs through the Blackmouth Cur breed. Joann wanted to know if I had a likely mate for her Annie dog. I took one look at Annie's deep red color and blocky build and knew exactly which dog I would cross her with. Knierim's Captain Courgeous. After looking at their pedigrees I was convinced this was the right cross. In October of 2012 I got sick and had to have 16in. of colon taken out. I contacted Joann about purchasing Captain instead of just studding to Annie. As I had 4 males and many more days ahead of me in the hospital. Joann and her family prayed about it and then came a took Captain home. I had raised Captain from a pup. And it was hard to see him go, but I knew he would be a tremendous blessing for the Burnside family. He would also give them the solid foundation for a great breeding program. In Oct. of 2013 Joann purchased 2 wonderful young females from us (Ava-Betsy). Now they have the perfect package. Hunting ability--be it little or large game--stock working bloodlines either wild or domesticated. And gear personalities for family protection and pet.
As I have come to know Joann and her family. I have come to realize what strength and courage they have through Jesus Christ. So what more could you ask for in buying a puppy. 1st. your getting a puppy with a solid foundation and the DNA to do it all(You supply the training). And your dealing with a devout God fearing and trusting family. Who better to do business with. It you have any questions as to the pedigrees give me a call. I'll help fill in any blanks I can.
