The only way to describe her is nothing short of amazing. As a household pet she is the most loving and affectionate dog we could have asked for. As a hunting companion she is extraordinary. I would like to say due to my superb training ability I have trained the perfect pointer. Sorry to say that statement is the furthest thing from the truth. As a novice upland bird hunter I was intimidated by the thought of training a bird dog after reading different training books. When I began to work with Belle, I thought “Hey this training stuff isn’t so hard”. When I got her in the field over birds I was amazed at the things she did that I know I did not work with her on. Her natural instinct, drive, and intensity are off the charts. Once in the field she is all about finding birds for me and almost has to be dragged away like a child begging for a toy. If anyone is looking for a puppy to train as a novice getting into upland bird hunting I would recommend a puppy from Cowan Farms. The one thing I would like to see is how one of these puppies would hunt after being trained by a professional. |
