TRAINED 14 MONTH OLD MALE SMALL MUNSTERLANDER AVAILABLE JANUARY 2019: Bilstar's Free- call name "Duke" is a 14 month old Small Munsterlander Pointer (SM) (www.smcna.org). This breed is a "versatile" dog that does everything all the various hunting dog groups are expected to do. I have hunted these dogs throughout the country on quail, grouse, pheasant, squirrel, ducks, and geese. Small Munsterlanders are excellent after the shot, being excellent trackers and retrievers of wounded game. These dogs do it all. You have one companion that will hunt waterfowl from a blind or boat, hunt birds in field or forest, track wounded game and are a loving and loyal family pet in the home. Duke is well beyond a "started" dog and is nearly fully trained. He is ready to hunt now and is hunting with me and my dogs. I train the "old-fashioned way"; no unsightly e-collar to forget to charge or to malfunction, no transmitter to carry around and lose. He is trained to voice commands and hand-signals, but little handling of this breed is required. He can easily be conditioned to an e-collar if desired. Duke responds to your movements in the field and is a medium range working dog. He will be a joy to continue to train and hunt with. He has tremendous drive and desire. He is eager to please and is obedient. He searches well, points, retrieves by land and water, is started on blind retrieves, and tracks wounded game on land and water. He has a very good nose, is steady to wing, retrieves to hand, is soft mouthed and loves the water. He can easily be trained to blood-track deer. This fall Duke has already hunted woodcock and quail in Alabama and Virginia, hunted pheasant in Canada and retrieved waterfowl in training sessions in Alabama. He is ready to hunt upland birds and waterfowl for you. Duke is friendly with other people and dogs and will enjoy being a member of a hunting family. He is playful, travels well, is used to the dog crate, outdoor kennel-run, and living in the home. Duke is very good tempered, affectionate and calm in the home. He is a great pet as well as a great hunting partner. He is micro-chipped, registered with the Small Munsterlander Club of North America (SMCNA) and the North American Versatile Hunting Association (NAVHDA). He is current on all shots and gets monthly tick and heartworm medication. Duke is in excellent health. He is 21 inches tall at the withers and weighs 45 pounds. He is a great hunting partner and family pet Both of Duke's parents have been evaluated in the NAVHDA hunt- test system and scored very well. Sire: Versatile Champion Lakewood's Augustine Altman "Austin" – Natural Ability = 112, Utility Test = 204, National Invitational = 200. Dam: Bilstar's Catherine Ross "Madchen" – Natural Ability 108. Duke has tested Natural Ability and scored 96 Points. Both of Duke's parents have been evaluated for hip dysplasia by OFA and have great hips and are dysplasia-free.
