I purchased two dogs from Thane in September. One was a 15 month started dog and the other an 8 week old puppy. I only had about three weeks to build a relationship with the started dog prior to the first hunt in ND. I could not have been more proud of the started dog. He worked grouse like a pro. I just returned from the Upper Peninsula from a week of woodcock and grouse hunting. Once again the started pup did not disappoint. He was able to work the thick cover close and checked in with me periodically. He retrieved grouse and woodcock to hand. I have a pheasant hunt in eastern MT in November and can’t wait to get my dog “Huck” on some roosters. I have hunted with Brittany’s for a long time. Huck is hands down the best working and family dog I’ve had. I can’t wait to get his half sister going as she is showing the same characteristics as Huck. Thane has an outstanding breeding program at Treasure French Brittany’s and I would highly recommend him if you’re in the market for a fantastic hunting dog and companion. Thanks again Thane!!

We picked Sophie up a year ago from Thane and have had nothing but pure enjoyment from day 1. We had the 2nd pick of the litter and wanted a female. Thane brought out the remaining females in the litter and sat in his backyard and let her choose us. This was our family's first dog and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. She has been easy to train (she's sooooo smart). She had the basic commands down in weeks.

Thane's comment on the day we picked her up was let her be a puppy. She knows how to hunt, but give her time to be a puppy. Great advice.

At 14 months on her first pheasant hunt she pointed 20+ birds. 100% of that skill came from the blood lines. Pretty incredible!

On top of that she's an incredible family dog. Many thanks Thane and Treasure French Brittanys.

We just got our second French Brittany from Thane this spring. We have a three year old female and just added a male pup. The female has the best temperament and personality and the new little guy is looking to be the same! We are so thrilled with these dogs and highly recommend Thane as a breeder. Thane was helpful every step of the way and great with communication. We highly recommend Thane and Treasure French Brittanys!

As a fellow French Brittany breeder I looked into Thayne Wilcox's breeding program leading to purchasing Sioux an orange roan male. I have acquired bloodlines for Sunburst Brittanys my kennel through muliple breeders across the U.S. and European lines. I would recommend Thayne as the top breeder of french brittanys. My Sire Sioux is best suited for chukar country, and hunts accordingly. He is a natural, holds point never busts, he is a stealthy cooperative hunter. His temperament is also among the best I've seen in my days as a breeder, handler, and trainer. Thayne and I work interdependently to gather helping eachother, referring eachother, and sharing the 2 finest kennels bloodlines that breed for the vast western chukar hunting lifestyle. No other breeders of french brittanys understand more how to develop a bird dog for the hardest most challenging upland hunting possible...Thayne has it down pact! In October 2018, we adopted Bruce, a gorgeous liver, orange and white tricolor. Despite being raised with an Australian Shepherd puppy in a busy house with an 11 year-old boy, he has always been even-keeled and easy to train. We don’t hunt, but it is clear that he would be a natural -- he is very athletic with great scent abilities, long, springy legs and a well-muscled chest. His vertical leap is like a caracal cat! Since he doesn’t hunt, he spends his time running around in tall grass, chasing his “sister” Lolo, agility training -- and lazing around on any willing lap. For pictures, see @lebruce2018 on Instagram. As a bonus, Thane is very knowledgeable about the breed, and willing to help with any questions. We have been very happy with the whole experience.

Coming from a family of die hard bird hunters, Thane took on the challenge of converting us from German wirehaired pointers to these incredible French Brittanys. We have had a number of pups from this kennel and have never been disappointed. For the hunter that needs first, a great family dog and second, a born natural hunter that needs little training, these are the dogs you want. One would think that with their easy going nature that their hunting prowess would suffer, but that is not the case. Thane has a love for these dogs that will lead to his every effort to satisfy and help you to have an enjoyable experience.
GREAT DOGS!
GREAT PEOPLE!

I had to put down a beloved 9 yo French Brittany birddog this past June, and thought I was destined for a compromised dogless bird season this fall. Then I heard about Thane Wilcox and Treasure Kennels. He had a started 1 1/2 yo French Brit female for sale. My fortune began to turn to the good then.

A phone call to Thane turned into a pleasant exchange and an accepted offer. Thane had kept "Ritz" as a potential future breeding female, but decided against this due to an umbilical hernia and an irregular number of teats. Plus he had 2 breeding females already. Thane's youngest daughter protested this decision, as Ritz had become a favorite.

Thane agreed to hold onto Ritz for about a month while I got settled into a new residence and she had hernia surgery and was spayed. He refused to accept a down payment, stating he'd have no trouble finding another buyer if I didn't follow through. I took this a sign of confidence, both for the dog's adoptability and in me.

I drove to La Grande with several hunting friends, one of whom owned a 5yo French Brit from one of Thane's previous litters. Thane took us out into a field to demonstrate Ritz's hunting skill on live birds. This confirmed her prowess and cemented the deal. Thane also generously shared training advice with all 3 of us with bird dog questions.

Ritz has now integrated into her new home for 3 months, and has proven to be a wonderful pet and outstanding bird dog. She has a calm and friendly disposition, is very intelligent, and gets on well with other canines and humans, especially children.

Regarding hunting, she has proven herself a quick study on several pheasant hunts, quickly becoming the best retriever of our pack on "Down Birds". She has a strong drive to hunt, an excellent nose, durability, and trainability. What's not to love about this dog!

I can only express gratitude to Thane and highly recommend him as a breeder and trainer. He is a hunter himself and works to create the best line of bird dogs for himself and those of us lucky enough to get one of his prodigies.

I obtained my French brittany, Walter, from Thane 5 years ago. I have not been disappointed. Wally is the best bird dog I have had. He has a desire to hunt that does not seem to stop. We have hunted hard for up to 5 days at a stretch and he is always ready to go. He loves busting through cattails and consistantly puts up birds . I feel any of Wally's faults are strictly due to my failings as his trainer.

I really like the temperament of the French Brittany. Great loving house dog that gets along well with all the dogs in our hunt group.

I have had four other bird dogs and have never had a breeder more concerned with my satisfaction with my dog as is Thane. He offers training advice and has checked up on my progress over time. He has offered suggestions to help me get the best from my dog. He feels we all deserve not just a good dog, but a great dog. Thane is a breeder who understands the breed, what's makes a great dog and is concerned with the new owner's needs.

I strongly recommend anyone considering getting a french brittany to contact Thane and discuss the breed, as well as getting a great bird dog from him. When Walter retires I will be getting another dog from him.

We couldn't be happier with our new pup from Thane at Treasure French Brittanys. We got a male and he has adapted so well to the daily scene in our life and has really been receptive to training and very eager to learn more. Amazing. Cant wait to get another one soon to be a little brother to Pondo. Thanks again Thane!

I've hunted with several dogs from this breeder and had to get 1. She (Aggie) has been 1 of the best and easiest dogs I've ever trained. At 1 years old she is pointing, retrieving, backing and performing like an experienced veteran. #3_britts_ highly recommend this breeder.

Be very careful. Treasure French Brittany's will steal your heart.

Unqualified recommendation for Thane's French Brittany's as
both hunters and companions. They will become instant family
members, take very little training and if you pay attention will teach
you a great deal about hunting and love.

I purchased one of Thayne's original EB pups in 2006 and Rizzo (Black, brown, and gray Tricolor), is quite frankly, the Lord of all Bird Dogs and still hunting. Last season was her 12th season and she's still representing the best of what a dream bird dog should be. Thayne's dogs are incredibly intelligent. Rizzo honors hand signals, ranges as commanded (close or far), positionally hunts structure adjacently to the hunter to accommodate for advantageous shooting. She stalks and points with intensity, and retrieves to hand with a soft mouth. Eastern Oregon is a mecca for upland/waterfowl and Rizzo does it all with drive, loyalty, perfection, and class. She was my first bird dog and has out performed all other breeds that live and visit our area. Thayne's pups adapt to the species and terrain. They are capable of hunting the cat tails, corn, sage, rim-rock, snow, ice, rivers, and cultivated fields. They retrieve ducks, pheasants, doves, quail, huns, chukars, sharptails and geese. I've been able to hunt ruffed, blue, and sage grouse. My dog has even pointed a feral peacock. That having been said, Rizzo was my first dog and I was a novice at dog training and consider myself fortunate to have a dog of such unparalleled performance and quality. Rizzo's quality is without question due in large part to her DNA, nature of the breed, and Thayne's commitment to the bloodline. Her temperment is gentle and very willing to please. She has never barked at a person or animal, and she appears to be incapable of biting or an aggressive temperament. She is without question loyal and happy. Sadly, her days are numbered. She is becoming slower, her hearing is almost completely gone, but for being almost 13 years old her health has been flawless. Due to the generally smaller size of the breed, their joint health, overall stamina, and hunting life seems to exceed that of other breeds.
My son received his first bird dog, Gin, (White and Orange), from Thayne this spring. Simply... she is incredible- at 10 weeks she already comes to the whistle unconditionally. Retrieves at 30+ yards to hand. Stocks and solid points the wing. Already understands what dangers are off limits (roads, head gates for irrigation, cars, etc..) Understands an open house door is off limits as well. Thayne truly has something special in his bloodline for a pup to be this advanced at 10 weeks.
Thayne loves a good joke, is happy and friendly, and not to mention tall dark and handsome! His kennel is a family affair and his children are excellent at socializing the dogs and preparing them for their new owners. He is willing to accommodate owners beyond the scope of usual business. Everything is negotiable. Travel, training, picks, reimbursements, and advice. He's always interested in a hunt to see how the dogs are doing. He loves what he does and enjoys the happiness new owners receive from his special bloodline. If anyone is interested in a bird dog, especially in the French Brittany bloodline, Treasure Kennel in LaGrande, Oregon is the only place necessary. I would with out hesitation recommend his dogs and services to to anyone from a 10 year old boy training his first pup, to an apprehensive housewife of a gundog owner, to an accredited Field-Trial Championship Trainer. Thank you Thayne!

We picked up “Nevi” from Treasure Brittanys in October of 2017. She is an amazing EB pup, full of life and tons of energy! She loves birds and loves her people. She is very birdy and shows incredible style and intensity on point. Nevi is fun to watch and easy to train. She is pointing well, has had birds shot over her, and is developing beautifully! We are thankful to have her in our home!
We love our EBs.
Thane is kind hearted man and so helpful and knowledgeable of the Breed. He breeds this line with that knowledge and experience to produce quality EBs for the home and that perform in the Field.
The first time we placed a deposit with Thane for a pup, the planned breeding didn’t happen. Thane offered us assistance in locating a pup elsewhere at that time. It is good to buy a quality pup from a quality breeder. Thank You for a great pup and a great experience.

Just want to give a shout out of the highest compliment to Thane at Treasure kennel. We received our little bundle of joy Jess a French Brittany from Thane 14 months ago. I was so excited. I have been hunting with Thane for almost 10 years. He has amazing dogs, and obviously loves them! Jess went with us on a three thousand mile road trip hunting for quail in 3 different states. She started tracking scent and retrieving birds at 2 months old. She has now finished her first hunting season and preformed above all expectations. She hunts with confidence, and I trust her to point, back, and retrieve. She never wants to quit. She is one of four dogs in my kennel and I always have to call her in at the end of the hunt. I have hunted and trained many different pointing dogs and breeds over the last 30 years. I have never had a dog that is so smart and so accomplished at such a young age. She is also a great family dog and the only one of my dogs that my wife really loves. If you are looking for the perfect hunting companion and family dog . Then look no further than Thane at treasure kennel and his wonderful French Brittanies!

I had a very positive experience with this kennel. The owner is sincere and clearly loves the breed. My little orange and white female was a better hunter at 8 months than my other dogs were at middle age. She is also a nice pet. My wife said that I finally got it right and has actually bonded to this one.
Thane has been helpful with questions before, during, and after my purchase. Treasure French Brittanies would be my first choice if I ever needed another dog.

I requested a tri-color French Brittany. When the letter had no tri's Thane offered to refund my deposit and to search out a tri on my behalf from a different breeder. I was impressed with his helpfulness and his honesty.
Ultimately I decided on an orange an white male and named him Dougy. He was very socialized by Thane and his young daughter that he called his " dog whisperer". At 5 months Dougy was in the field with his big French Brittany brother Larry. At 10 months he is a very enthusiastic solid pointer, solid retriever, good swimmer and very confidant in the field. I would highly recommend Thane if you are looking for a well bred French Brittany.

I've had Brittany's all my life, and purchased my sixth one from Thane at Treasure French Brittany's. I got a female and at just 7 months old she is already pointing and not afraid to go through heavy cover. She follows my 10 year old anywhere through cattails and heavy thick brush. She is very smart and picks up things very quickly. She has been retrieving training birds since about 4 months old. I don't think I could ask or expect anymore and she looks like she has great potential. As a breeder Thane was very helpful and easy to work with. He kept me informed throughout the process and even met me an hour and half away to help me do some live bird training with my new pup. He is always willing to talk and help with training tips and anything he can. I would highly recommend Thane as a breeder, you won't be disappointed.

Wow, Always wanted a bird dog who was ready to go out of the box and my dog Zero fits the bill. At 13 months old, my fourth bird hunt was the best yet. The little dude locks birds up straight away, quartering and tracking. He will creep in on command and once birds are down, locate and retrieve not just one chukar, but two and three.
His 33 lbs keeps him nimble and ready for more.
No formal training here, just one year of family fun and outdoor recreation. Many thanks Thane!

We purchased a French Brittany pup from Thane two years ago. Our Molly has turned into a great hunting dog and I have taken pheasants, chukars, huns, and quail with her. In addition, she is a great house dog and has a great temperament and disposition. Thane does a great job with his kennel and I plan on adding an additional French Brit pup to our family in the future.

Found Thane through gundogbreeders website and got our pup Maple earlier this year. She's 10 months old now and is the first dog I've trained myself. She has been really fun to train. Very smart and eager to please. Amazing nose and prey drive. I had the pleasure of going out with her for her first hunt on sharptail grouse in Montana last week and she really shined. Great nose, hunts close and never wants to stop. She's been a great family dog for us as well. Thane was easy to work with. Good communication and you can tell he loves the breed. He took myself and another out for some work on introduction to birds and this was really helpful. Highly recommended.

Am working with my first French Brittany this summer and I am really pleased with the results. Even our Lab "duck dog" didn't show such a desire to retrieve...... and this little guy is only 9 months old. He trains exceptionally easy...seems to know what I am asking him to do and has a willingness to obey. Loves to go everywhere with me and is easy to be around in the house. Looking forward to some chukar hunting in the canyon with him this fall.
Thane is an "easy to get along with" guy and goes out of his way to be helpful with the training process.
So, great little dog......great breeder.....couldn't be more pleased..

I purhcased a little tri color male from shane a few years ago. Thane drove up several hours to meet me at the Washington border and spent over an hour with me coaching me about French Brittanys. I had had several American Brittanys in the past, but Chester, my new pup , was a real treat. Very Birdy even as a pup, great energy but quite a snuggler too. I would highly recommend a French brittany to anyone looking for a hardworking, close hunting bird dog that is a great family companion. Thane was very knowlegeable and helpful and was avaialable for phone calls when I had a training question or just wanted to brag a little. When my son gets his 1st pup next year, I plan on calling Thane.

I have had many bird dogs in my hunting career all American Brittany's . Three years ago I bought my first French Brittany from Thane and it has been a joy training and hunting with this little dog. He is on his third year of hunting birds and he will back my six year old American Brittany. He has had a real awareness of what you expect from him since he was a young dog. He has a solid point and rarely will he miss the retrieve when hunted with my other dog. He is a very personable dog and would rather sit next to me while driving to a hunting location. I have hunted upland birds for 35yrs and would most definitely buy another French Brittany from Thane. He has taught me a couple of training tips while also helping me to train my dog when he was a pup. In closing I would highly recommend a dog from Thane you won't be disappointed!

I acquired a French Britany pup from Thane 2 years ago - named Dixie. this is my first bird dog of any type and I am very well pleased with how she has turned out. She is very "birdy." This is my second year with her and I bagged about 25 pheasants AND she has retrieved about 50 ducks!
Dixie is a "companion hunting dog." We keep her in the house, but when we go tot he field, she is nothing but business. she has not refused a single retrieve.
Since this was my first bird dog, Thane took the time to take us to the field to introduce Dixie to live birds and gun training. He is very helpful.
To sum up, I would buy another dog from Thane and would refer anyone to him.
