Darcy could not have been more amazing to work with. If I could have 10 dogs... I'd get them all from Darcy! My griff, Josi, is extremely birdie yet very mellow and cuddly at home. She has a gorgeous, easy coat and is petite at 50 pounds. She is great to take anywhere as well. She is exceptionally friendly... loving everyone and every dog she meets. I have 6 young nieces and nephews and she adores them and is SO good with them! Josi is an outstanding girl. I couldn't be more in love with my pup nor say enough good things about Darcy. I would highly recommend Darcy if you are considering a WPG!

I have nothing but good things to say about Darcy.
We were kept informed constantly throughout the process; from breeding, birth, to our final pickup. We received multiple sets of photos and Darcy was available to answer questions whenever we had them. The picking out/picking up process was seamless and pleasant. We had ample time with the pups to decide on our new best friend. We are not hunters, but we are definitely dog enthusiasts, and are extremely impressed with the breed. Going on 4 1/2 months old, and our Charlie is keen as mustard. High energy, eager to please, affectionate, and attentive during training. We're excited to see how she handles hiking and swimming as it starts to warm up. Her health has been excellent as well. She doesn't mind the cold or wet, either. Excellent with strangers. Not a guard dog, but also not a dog you have to worry about biting someone's kid. Think Golden Retriever mixed with Labrador Retriever and German Wirehaired Pointer.
On a side note for the breeder, we had forgotten her vaccination records at home when we took her to her 8 week vet appt. We were able to quickly get in touch with Darcy, who emailed us photos of the other pup's vaccination records. Saved us a drive home and back.
Friends and family are extremely interested in what is a pretty rare breed, and we'll be sending them to J & D Griffons if they want to get one themselves.

Picked up my best friend Oscar on April fools day in 2015. Since then we've joined NAVHDA and have went through the NA test @ 7months old, Oscar got a prize III, with an excellent on tracking and pointing. Oscar is a supper friendly and has not found anyone that he doesn't like. He does great in our house and turns it on when out hunting. You couldn't ask for a better companion. Darcy was great to work with and was patient with us.

We contacted Darcy about a month before moving from Hawaii back to Washington. She was very willing to work with us to assure we would have a puppy waiting for us upon our return.

Since then Roger (a very fitting name) has become a great addition to the family. His Character is unique and he has a very loving and gentle temperament. Roger is a great companion and wonderful with children. He has not had any health issues and am looking forward to his first pheasant season starting next weekend. I did take him to an upland bird ranch for training and he showed tremendous natural instinct.

I would highly recommend JD Griffons to anyone looking for an ugly dog. They make great family pets and from what I can tell so far, great partners in the field.

When we began our search for a new WPG puppy, we could not find any located in our home state of North Dakota. We had owned a WPG previously, and knew that was the breed we wanted to own again. Once you own a WPG, you will never want to own another breed again. They are affectionate, fun, and an excellent hunting dog. Through our searching, we located JD Griffons. I was apprehensive about working with a breeder three states away, but Darcy made it the best experience. I was so nervous about selecting a puppy I had not met in person. Darcy was so patient and took the time to answer my numerous questions. My husband was looking for a hunting dog, and I was looking for a pet companion with great personality. She took numerous pictures of the puppies that she thought would meet our criteria. In addition she sent videos of the pups working with a pheasant wing, playing, and interacting with people. Through her expertise and taking the time to get to know us and our desires in a pup, we were matched with the best puppy. We named her Ivy and she is a year and half old now. Everyone who meets Ivy loves her demeanor and is impressed with her skills. She is so gentle, well behaved, and cute! Ivy loves going to the lake, going on long runs/walks, playing with our kids and other dogs, and hunting. My husband has taken her hunting last fall and this fall, and she is doing very well. We are very pleased with our experience with JD Griffons and would use them again.

We are very happy with the professional and caring we found at J&D. We got a female Griff from J&D this spring. She's a wonderful dog. J&D is a quality breeder and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Griff.

Working with Darcy Markee of J&D Griffons was an exceptional experience. I fully admit was I was not an easy client. This was the first time ever, after a lifetime of family dogs (every breed from Heinze 57 to a gorgeous pedigreed yellow lab) that we brought a dog into our family without having met him/her in person. We had our hearts set on a Griffon and found our way to Darcy. She talked to me at length about the breed and about her dogs. Darcy asked me what my expectations were (loyal, loving, family dog that can hunt vs a hunting dog that would tolerate family). Oddly enough when we started talking I thought I wanted the smallest female in the litter. We ended up with the largest male (J&D Griffons called him Tank) and we couldn't be happier!!
Darcy helped me negotiate flying Magnum P.G. (that is what we named him) from Washington State to Georgia and he is the Christmas gift that we are grateful for every single day.
We have never had a smarter, more loving more versatile dog. Magnum will run all day on the beach or trails or he will snuggle on the sofa. He is almost 3 years old and we look forward to a life time together. As an aside, he is the most handsome dog you have ever seen!

We have had several Griffons in past years. All were rescued dogs and therefore adults when they came to us. We loved each one of them even though they were all a little different from each other.
It had been a lot of years since we had a puppy.
Babe has been a challenge for us as we are not as young as we once was. She is in my opinion the most intelligent dog that we have ever had and therefore a challenge to teach. Having said that she has become a very loving and dependable companion. She also is very "birdie " and love the daily work outs that she gets on our property finding Quail.
She is now 17 months old and learns new tasks very quickly. She is our constant companion no matter what we are doing.
We highly recommend Darcy's line of dogs for anyone who wants a exceptional hunting dog or companion/ family dog.

Great people to deal with and a great facility they keep for their dogs, very good at communicating with the buyer on what you are looking for in a Griff. In my case my wife and I drove 8 hours to pick up our pup, only because of the honest communication and constant replies from Darcy. She wanted to know about us and what the dog was going to be used for. I explained he will be a pet first and a hunting dog second and after several emails and phone conversations she knew this dog was going to a great home where he will be spoiled rotten and that set Darcy ease with knowing she didn't have to worry.
Folks Darcy does not run a puppy mill.

I got my pup from J&D Griffons in May 2017. He (Walter) is currently 6 months old and has been awesome. Lots of energy, quite quick to learn and not a mean bone in his body. He has done well with a lot of socialization and crate trained in just a few days.
I brought him back to Canada and Darcy made everything from picking him up to getting across the border super easy. It was great to meet her and chat. She answered all my questions for probably close to an hour before we left.

I am super happy with the whole experience and have been recommending her to anyone interested in a WPG ever since.

The male dog we received from JD Griffons has been the absolute best dog. He is a natural hunter, needing little instruction or training. He gets along well with other dogs and people. We like his coat length, size and disposition. Could not recommend JD Griffons high enough! We want to keep them as our "best kept" secret but the secrets out, they have spectacular dogs.

We got our amazing Oliver from Darcy Markee at j&d Griffons. His dame is ray eye and sire was Ricky.
He's nearly 3 now and a real treat. Oli is the happiest dog I know! We've been training and competing in agility which he loves and we have a great time! He's very biddable and trainers describe him as a dog with great integrity. He's incredibly smart and a quick learner. He is a wonderful hiking companion and loves all people and dogs. He has a tiight coat which works well in our climate. He's a big boy at 77 lean pounds!
Darcy was great to work with! She answered a every question with kindness and enthusiasm. She took the time to get to know us and helped match our lifestyle and personality to the right dog. We would certainly consider working with them again!

I have hunted since I was a kid having grown up with 5 brothers in eastern Washington. I have always had Labs and German Shorthairs. But now that I live on the west side of the state in a more urban setting I didn't want a big stinky lab or a wild shorthair in my back yard or in my house. So I started researching what was new in the hunting world and came across the Griffon. I reached out to several breeders in the area and settled on JD Griffons. When I went to look at their operation, it was clear that they love their animals. Darcy was by far the most knowledgeable and open breeder I spoke to. She doesn't hunt and didn't try to BS me. The farm setting isn't state of the art, but it is clean, and you can tell the animals are well fed, exercised and socialized by their behavior around strangers.

In pictures Griffs are pretty funny looking, adorable puppies, but appear kind of messy in a way so I wasn't sure. After seeing the dogs in person I was SOLD. Literally and Figuratively! I ponied up the most money I have ever paid for an AKC dog. It seemed insane at first but with every passing day I knew I had made the right investment.

We are the Lumley family from Woodway, WA and we brought (9wk old)Cedar May of Kali and Ridge. She was unbelievably easy to train. 2-3 times with each command and she got it! Bell training to go outside, Sit, Stay, Down, Off, Crawl, Come, Fetch....Brilliant comes to mind!

Since I wanted to make it clear to the family that Cedar was going to be a hunting dog I immediately set out to find a trainer. We chose Upland of Cooke Canyon Hunt Club for Cedar May. And Cedar went to school at 6 mos old, for a 30 day stay. I knew she was smart but after seeing her in the field at 7 mos with only one month of training I was over the moon. She was focused, eager and excited to show off her new and improved self. She was now a huntress! Even Kendal (her trainer) commented that she couldn't believe she was only a puppy! She took to the drills like a veteran and was a role model for other beginners. I felt so proud (like I had anything to do with it).

I have taken Cedar hunting with amazing success (considering my skills are not what they used to be) Cedar will chase down an injured bird and gently bring it back. She will point for several minutes waiting for me to catch up and give the command GO! She loves to Flush, the Find and she loves bringing the prize back to Mama.

As far as a family dog...this breed is the PERFECT! Gentle, NON SHEDDING, Smart, Loving, Goofy and Well Behaved if YOU do the work.

Thank You Darcy! @ JD Griffons

Darcy was a pleasure during our whole process of picking a puppy. She had great communication, updated us with photos, and went above and beyond to answer our questions.

She wanted to make sure the puppies were all in great hands, showing how much she cares for their well-being. As I did not live near Darcy, she always made herself available for phone conversations and put together all the required paper work to bring our pup to Canada.

Now our WPG is almost 6 months old. He has been one of the greatest additions to our family, is beyond loving, and very healthy. We have had many people stop us during hikes to ask about Kaiser and never hesitate to tell them about Darcy and her family. We would recommend JD griffons to anyone who is looking for a hunting dog.

We are the Volds, from Newcastle Wa. I would second the above information, and add that we have been so happy with our pup, Vail, from Raynee and Ricky. Our girl is extremely lovable and so funny. We requested a brown female and Darcy was able to send us countless photos, sent extensive emails, was a fabulous communicator, and is even helping me with follow up on Vail for when she goes in season. She is an amazing breeder and we couldn't be more happy with her or our WPG! If you have any questions about our pup, please let me know!

My son Tyler and I have been hunting all our lives and within the past few years really got into bird hunting - but we were trying to do it without a dog. We hunted a piece of private property that contained several coveys of Hungarian partridges. We quickly realized that it was an effort in futility without a dog.

Tyler started researching and learned about Wire-Haired Griffons. To his surprise and mine, we leared that there was a breeder in the same town that we lived in - J&D Griffons in Kennewick, WA.

Tyler put his name in the hat for a male from the next litter. We luckily got one and he gave it the name Rusty. We have now had Rusty for 8 months. Tyler went out East to work and go to school when Rusty was about 3 months old. When Rusty turned about 6 months old, bird hunting season opened up and I started taking him in the field to hunt pheasant. Rusty is now 8 months old. With very minimal training, I ended up shooting 24 pheasants behind his point. He holds on point, is not at all gun shy, does not release until he sees the bird fall, retrieves it, brings it back to me, and will even chase it down if winged. He once chased a winged pheasant for 300 yards, caught it, and brought it back to me. He holds his head up in the wind when the wind is blowing and holds to the ground when it is not blowing. He goes in and out of thick brush without hesitation. He makes small and then wide sweeping circles in an area, thoroughly hunting it out until I give the instruction to move on. Whenever I move on and say "find the bird", he moves with me and hunts accordingly.

To be so young, his natural hunting skills and instincts are simply amazing. Watching him hunt and go on point is truly a sight to behold. It doesn't get much better than that. The dogs that J&D Griffins breed are natural born excellent hunters. Rusty is also very much a family type dog and it was very easy to house break him. When Tyler gors back to school, he is taking Rusty with him :(. I now have my name in the hat for another male. You cannot go wrong with J&D Griffons. I highly recommend them as a Gun Dog Breeder.

We are the Fergusons from Wenatchee, Washington and owners of Lola, one of Raynee and Ricky’s first litter pups. Previously, we had owned two, yellow labs which our children grew up with.

Wanting to try a new breed and get back into bird hunting, my husband was set on the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. J & D Griffons was an excellent choice in breeders for us. We are very happy with the professionalism that Jerry and Darcy displayed throughout the months leading up to our selection of Lola, during her adoption and afterwards, as well. Darcy is a wonderful communicator and a very thorough business woman. Jerry demonstrated the wing on a fishing pole game that both parents and pups enjoyed going after. He assured me that the hunting lineage of Ricky and Raynee and their family-oriented demeanor would be the right choice for us. J & D Griffons are breeders with integrity; the home and kennel environment is spotless, the pups and parents are well cared for-receiving routine vet visits and puppy vaccinations, proper nutrition, and exercise in a fenced-in yard.

As for our dog, Lola, you will see her in several photos on the website. She looks much like Raynee with the traditional longer coat and hazel eyes. As a pup she was quite gray in appearance but now has more of a brown colored coat and the longer tufts of hair have grown on her head and face. She is such a sweetheart and definitely has the hunter instinct! At 9 months of age Lola stands 24" tall at the shoulder and has learned: to ring the jingle bells at the door when she “needs” to go out, knows basic commands, can identify and fetch several toys by name, waits for her meals until the “ok” signal is given, scratches at the refrigerator crisper drawer for carrots, knows her right paw from her left and shakes accordingly, points on birds, loves water and rides on a paddleboard. Above all, Lola is a real family dog and lap dog, too!

If you want an awesome and unique dog that is not easily recognized by the masses, we encourage you to visit J & D Griffons in Kennewick, Washington!
