My Golden Retriever Banner is 1.5 years old now, and I just certified her for air scent Search and Rescue.

She has absolutely incredible drive and stamina in the field, and, at the same time, is a total pleasure to have around the house. She also has a superb nose. On her Mission Readiness Exam, she found her third subject after ~3.5 hrs. She came up out of an arroyo, hit a slight breeze, and took off at speed across the next ridge as though she was running a jackrabbit. Such a strong finish!

From puppyhood, she has LOVED to retrieve, and she will find her ball no matter how long she needs to persist to find it. She also loves the water. Also from puppyhood, I have taken her to my mother's nursing home, where she is incredibly gentle with the residents. She just seems to know...

I would totally recommend these dogs for hunting and SAR!

Hunters Goldstrike Golden Retrievers are top notch breeders of golden retrievers. 'Maggie' is almost a year and a half, and she is my first golden retriever. I am totally in love with this beautiful and intelligent creature! I was able to check out Lee Ann's facility and meet quite a few of her dogs and 'visitors'. What a set up, and this is a breeder that works hard (and succeeds) at breeding top quality golden retrievers. I would suggest looking at this breeder for a new companion.

14 years ago we picked up a beautiful fluffy male pup from Lee Ann - and we just lost him to heart failure today. He was one of the best dogs we have ever owned. Sweet, loving and loyal - and the best part - healthy. Living a very long and wonderful life. We live on the Western Slope now, but Lee Ann - one day, when we are ready for our next golden we will be in touch. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful companion!

Lee Ann and her family raise and breed the best dogs I've seen and worked with . It was a pleasure to do business with them . Lucy is part of our family now .She will be 2 in July and its has been a joy to train and live with this beautiful dog .When people tell me she is a beautiful dog I say that is what a golden retriever is suppose to look like . I have known 2 golden's (one is mine) from Hunter's Goldstrike and they are both exceptional dogs. I love my dog Gabriel more than anything. He started swimming at 3 months old and even body surfs in the ocean. He is my best friend in the world and is beautiful too. I will get another retriever from these wonderful breeder's.

I have taken care of several of these dogs from tiny pups to adults as their veterinarian, and I must say that the breeders are absolutely wonderful. The dogs themselves are top notch, both in health and with fabulous personalities from the beginning!

My wife and I purchased a female puppy out of the Katie and Striker litter born March 18th. I was just returning from a year long deployment to Iraq and I was looking for a versatile hunting dog primarily for upland game birds, with a little waterfowl every once in a while. Abby is now five and a half months old and she has been a pleasure to train. I think she's taught me more than I've ever taught her. I introduced her to live birds on opening day of Dove season on September first. The doves were there, but my accuracy was not. I eventually managed to down two doves, which Abby retrieved without hesitation. Her only hangup was that she was a little gunshy. Which was my fault of course for skimping on intro to gunfire. (Not to mention missing so many birds.)
Labor day weekend my brother and I have a tradition of going up to the mountains and hunting blue grouse. Three hours into our first day in the mountains, I was limited out for the day. With Abby's help, I limited out every day of the hunt. There were three of us hunting together, and the second day of the hunt, I was the only person to kill birds. There were at least three birds that I shot that weekend I would have never found without her. There was a couple she retrieved for me, that I didn't even know I'd hit. She also got over her gunshyness, once she figured out that birds were supposed to fall when the gun went bang.
All-in-all I could not be happier with my purchase. Thank you Lee Ann!

We have known Dave & LeeAnn for a long time through the HRC/UKC they are exceptional people and wonderful breeders. We have always had yellow labs but we recently decided to get a golden retriever whom we named Izzy from Dave & LeeAnn. She is a puppy from their Striker male whom I have always admired for his look and skill. Izzy is a fun dog and has been retrieving and swimming well since 6 months. We look forward to all she will be doing in the future.

We have had golden retrievers in our family since I was an infant. These are the dogs we have hunted over, backpacked, camped, and gone fishing with. I was certain that my last dog was the finest golden I would ever have the experience of knowing. My search for a kennel was long and hard. I feel fortunate to have found Lee Ann and David Heldt. Exceptionally clean kennels with insulated dog houses. They breed for working dog traits in a size that the golden was intended to be. Our two year old male is alert, intelligent and well mannered with great instinct. He began water retrieves at six months. He is beginning to display qualities that run parallel with my last golden. I feel truly fortunate to have him.

I have a beautiful female golden from Hunter's GoldStrike, Marg and she is a wonderful dog. She loves people, kids and has a good nose on her for hunting. I would recommend this breeder highly, she cares about each and every dog she places.

I got my male dog, Judah, from Leann and Dave in the fall of 2005. He is a son of Striker, out of Star. I receive compliments on Judah all the time for his handsome looks. Although, its nice to have a good looking canine companion, that isn't his best quality. I trained and hunt over him each fall. Judah has tons of drive and loves to learn. He loves going with me every day, even if it means staying in the back of the pickup all day while I work. I couldn't ask for a better friend and all around companion than Judah, very smart,loyal great all around dog. I feel I struck gold at Hunter's Goldstrike!!

I have owned and hunted with Golden Retrievers for 35 years. In the spring of 2009 I purchased a male Golden Retriever from Hunter's Goldstrike. The dog I purchased has great natural hunting instincts and is everything I had hoped for when I was searching for a new Golden Retriever. When I went to pick my dog up, I noticed their facilities are clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend Hunter's Goldstrike to anyone looking for a Golden Retriever.

I recently purchased a female Golden from Lee Ann and David and it was a truly wonderful experience. Having worked with them in the Hunting Retriever Club and the UKC, I knew they were reputable and pleasant people and had faith in their breeding. Remington's Striking Lil Vixen is proof of that. She is not only easily trainable in all things hunting related, but has proven a wonderful aid as a therapy dog as well. Her pleasant disposition and easy going mannerisms have shown her to be a valuable asset in the workplace. She is currently working on her Started Hunting Retriever title with the UKC and is progressing well. I would highly recommend Dave and Lee Ann for anyone interested in a great Golden Retriever.

We got a golden "Abbie" from Lee Ann nearly 7 years ago and she has been the best dog we could have asked for. She is so wonderful with our two lil boys, following them everywhere and playing with them in such a gentle, loving manner. Lee Ann is such a great professional who can anser any and all questions reguarding training, breeding and goldens in general. Her faciilies are the cleanest I have seen! I have been dealing with Hunter's Goldstrike for many years and have gotten a couple of my females from them to breed to my male, Kopper. I find them to be excellent dogs and easy to train. Lee Ann uses Kopper on some of her females too as she has found him to be a great sire for some of her females like the Brandy X Kopper pups. They have turned out to be some excellent hunters.

We purchased Hunter's Goldstrike Love Over Gold..aka Lani, a Golden Retriever, who just turned 1 yr old (06-16-2010). I am very particular in evaluating breeders. We live in Georgia and drove all the way across the country to Colorado to get a puppy from Hunter's Goldstrike. When I had finally found her website I knew they were the ONE and it didn't matter how far away it was. We wanted a dog that was being bred with the ability to hunt, was conformationaly correct, solid background of health testing..we wanted it all. We have not been disappointed. Lani retriever her first bird at 14 weeks of age, passed her first CERF testing at 6 months old, earned her Canine Good Citizen at 10 months old, earned her Rally Novice title at exactly 11 months old, and has earned points in the Conformation ring as well. She will be going for her Hunting Started title this September. She is truly a well rounded, well bred, functional dog. If someone wants it all like I did, there's no need to look anywhere else!

I am a new breeder of Golden Retrievers, and have gotten two of my breeding dogs from Hunter's Goldstrike. I have always had Golden's.After losing one of my dogs 2 years ago at the age of 5, I knew I had to find an exceptional beeder.I found Lee Ann Heldt, made a day trip to meet her at her home. I fell in love with her dogs. My Benson, born 5/17/08, is an exceptional dog with a pedigree a mile long. Though I don't hunt, I knew Benson needed a job. So we have been involved in agility for about a year.This dog is amazing, He's fast and smart. He continues to amaze me, when he picks up agility skills almost immediately. He has been to his first trial as a practice step last month. He is entered in some fun runs this summer. Will compete on a serious level this fall. He loves agility and I am so in love with him. Lee Ann and David Heldt know what they're doing. They are lovers of the breed and it shows. Benson is the love of my life.
