Male or Female English Pointer?

Postby rick25 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:21 pm

I've put down a deposit for an English Pointer (for the pick of the litter) and need to decide if I would like a male or female. I've done a ton of reading on the subject and am still unsure. Its unlikely that we will breed the pointer in the future (but possible I suppose). I'm still unsure if we will spay or neuter. What are your thoughts?

The determining factor for me is that if you do not plan on spaying a female, you must be ready and responsible for her 2x a year when she goes into heat. I have both and I do not buy into the fact that one hunts better or that one is less "hyper", etc. If you do not care M or F pick the pup that has the best confirmation, instinct, looks, etc.
