German Wire Haired Pointer Questions

Postby Islander » Sun Jul 18, 2010 5:40 pm

I have been doing research on various websites pertaining to dog breeds. However, I am looking for a dog that will be the family companion in our home ( just my wife and I) and a dog I can use for hunting ruffed grouse alone and on foot. So, to serve my wife's needs I prefer one that doesn't shed too much and one that will not be difficult to housetrain. As a secondary consideration, I am semi-retired and my wife is home alone at times while I work part-time. Therefore, she might be more comfortable at home with a breed that often can have some watchdog/protective instincts. So, I have been considering a German Wire Haired Pointer but really need advice from people who are regularly exposed to field bred hunting breeds. Any advice individuals on this forum might like to offer would be greatly appreciated. Also, anybody concerned about upsetting any breed fanciers can simply send me an email at: lgmacdonad_7@hotmail.com

Thanks!

I guess nobody on here is going to touch my request for advice with a 10 foot pole. I therefore, just suggest that the forum moderator/administrator simply delete the post.

wirehair32 thanks for the reply. It is consistent with answers I received from a couple of personal inquiries with owners and some other research I have done. Thanks again!
