need advice in idaho

hey everyone my name is kelby lee and i really need to figure out a really great big game hunting dog that would do well in idaho's climate, also as a family pet. i've been thinking about a black mouth cur but not sure. any help?

We have a friend that lives in Salmon, ID and he uses hounds. They stay outside year around. He has Blue Ticks, Walkers, Red Bones and a bunch of others. I know he hunts Bear and Cats with them.
