Howdy all. I'm looking for recommendations to help me with my 10 month old vizsla pup. Good instincts, but I don't have the time or the skill set to get him on his way to a good field dog. Any recommendations welcome. PMs are fine.
Best,
Mark

Re: Trainer Recommendations in Central New JerseyMark,
Let me suggest that if you are able, don't limit your geographic area to central NJ. You're looking for specialized work. If you want to find the right trainer, do a nation-wide search, gather as much pertinent info as you can (including references) on each trainer that appears to offer what you want, and then make decisions. Don't shop by price - shop by reputation. Any trainer who is substantially less expensive than his competition, is most likely low priced because he doesn't have the reputation or skill to compete for your business any other way. When that's the case, you don't get a good value for your investment at any price. Try looking at the Professional Retriever Trainers Association (PRTA) web site. You'll find a directory of trainers there. PRTA members can only join the association by among other things having received at least three written referrals from other pro trainers. That in itself takes care of some of the screening you'll want to do. www.prta.net Best luck to ya'. Jeff Jennings
