how do I desenitize lab to gun shot

Now that life has settled down a bit again...Enough with the canine emergencies...

Anyway I have a 2 yr old lab who had scent hunt anything I plant in the yard. but once I get out the dummy Launcher she is gone like the wind into the house. I can get one maybe two shots off with light power. So how can I get her to stick around. she would be great in the field.

Now the two I have decided to work with have done 7 retrieves together after not using it all winter with everything going. One is a 2 yr old male the other is a 7 month old who hasn't heard the laucher since he was a baby.

I would slow up a little. Get a light cap gun and pop it during feeding time and during play time. Start with just one pop and gradually work your way up to more. Once you are not getting reaction move up to something a little stronger. (Light .22 blanks) Dogs are associative. You want to associate the sound with a time of fun. The key is go slow and it should work out for you.
Good luck
