Google dog food and you will get a ton of info. The most popular brands are some of the lowest rated , like Purina Hills Science Diet and so forth not what you would think. That doesnt mean that they dont work its just that dog nutrition is and has gone to the next level and more people are starting to spend more and get better product for the dollar. you need to figure out whats in the budget and how youre dog likes the food of choice. There are some great middle of the road foods on the market and youre pet store should be able to give some good info without trying to talk you into a certain brand. Do some online research and you should be able to come up with something along with all of the advice that is on this forum. Good luck.

I have been feeding Loyall for almost a year now and have been very happy with it. Active formula has no corn, it is a chicken and rice formula 26/19. High performance has corn in it, only downfall of this formula, with chicken 24/20. Professional has no corn, it is a chicken and rice formula 31/20. I mostly feed the active formula. Dogs are all doing great on it. Coats are great, teeth look good, stools are good. And decent price at $29/40lbs for active, $35/50lbs for high performance and not sure on professional prices.

i don't mind corn as long as it is processed. when it is just ground up corn that form has no digestable value to it. It will coem out in the same ground up state it went in as

But Loyall and some other company's cook the corn so it does have value to it..Heck even coyotes eat corn and grains I get to see it in their piles they leave around the property along with feathers and furs

I have used the Purinia products for some time now. I had tried several differant brands since I owned GSP's. The dogs seem to do ok on the Purinia brand. Puppies the same. I can get the Purina product's for almost cost at the store where the wife works PT.
I have tried switching the dogs gradually over to differant brands that have higher % protein. They just end up with loose stools.
Interesting topic.

Has anyone tried feeding any of that EVO all meat dog food? I am thinking of trying some. I've seen show labs that have been on it and they look great, but was wondering about feeding it to a working dog...
